So 2 weekends ago, Matt and I checked into one of our favourite hotels, klapsons, the boutique hotel located in the heart of our central business district :)
I previously experienced their executive room, with an amazing design (and a super beautiful shower in the middle of the room) and enjoyed it so much. This time, we managed to get ourselves a night at the klapsons suite!
It was my first time staying in a suite and I now understand why people are willing to pay more. You get more space, more amenities and overall, a more relaxing experience. That's what staying in a hotel is for right? Leaving all your stress and worries behind because everything is provided for .
Anyway, I'm really impressed with how klapsons is different from others. A boutique hotel that has lots of edge to it, each room is different and has a totally different look and feel to it. That really calls for effort!

Calling all avid travelers, staycation maniacs or business travellers, you guys are so gonna love this : klapsons, the boutique hotel singapore has launched their new The Ultimate klapsons Experience packages!
Choose from The Executive Experience where you get 11 nights stay at any executive rooms for $1800++ or The Ultimate klapsons Experience, for 17 nights in any room of your choice, including the 4 suites available for only $3,600++

Thank you klapsons for being my favorite hotel :)

HANGING BY THE STABLES

Hello all! It has been awhile since I last checked back with a fashion feature like this.
Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still very much alive, well and kickin' and i've been getting my ass down to learning some photo editing lately, so here's me experimenting with these photos I shot with Matt the other day, chasing sunsets at the Stables, wearing a full ensemble by Montifs.

The Bomber/Parka Jacket trend is HUGE this summer, and of course, in all sorts of prints and bright colors! I chose this everyday one from Montifs because of its subtle pink color and silver details. The fact that it looks like a cross between a bomber jacket and a parka makes it really sexy, don't you think?
Underneath, I decided to pair it with a Buckle Neckline Top that was surprisingly really flattering. Made of stretchy ribbed material, this top will hug you in the right places and is super comfortable in this hot weather of ours.
Lastly, DENIM! Denim bottoms seem to be something I've been grabbing unknowingly lately... maybe because they just go so well with everything?
This time, instead of a denim shorts that i'm forever living in, I chose a Button Down Denim Skirt in lightwash to bump up the girly factor in this outfit.

So that's it from me for this post guys! Hope you guys are well and i'll check back really soon with more travelogues, videos and photos!
Don't leave this space just yet, i miss ya'll

I finally visited Korea after 13 years !

Anyeonghasaeyo!

The last time I visited Korea was when I was 10, and you guys know how much I love all things Korean right! From the food to the beauty products, trends, skincare, and even pretty Korean people HAHA. I was so stoked to be able to go to kimchiland after 13 years!
Despite it being a work trip, going over with a brand that I personally LOVE - ETUDE HOUSE certainly didn't feel like work at all. It was a 3 days trip, which I extended one day on my own. So here's what went down during the trip.
I think one of the biggest highlights of the trip was the ETUDE global media cruise dinner. Despite it raining all day (and being such a downer really) , the Etude crew were all super professional and unfazed. They prepared pink umbrellas for all of us, as we boarded a Super huge cruise ship for the media dinner.

Anyone finds this cruise ship familiar?

Yes this is the exact one that was shown in the hit movie "My Love From The Star" featuring mega heartthrob, Jun Ji Hyun.
omooooooo I caught that series last month and it got me so excited because the cruise scene (iconic one where Cheon Song Yi and Do Min Joon shared their first kiss)

It looks exactly the same in the show and irl! Huge and grand, all lined with fairy lights. On board, we were greeted with an insane buffet spread that was damn hardcore and the dinner ended with the ETUDE HOUSE Global team addressing us with a speech and a series of lucky draw giveaways. I didn't win any, as usual HAHA

The second morning, I went out to Myeongdong early before the assembly time with Amelia and we got to shop quite a bit at ETUDE HOUSE's main store in myeongdong. Spent a cray amount there (as you can see from my Korean haul on YouTube) but Etude house in Korea is really affordable so just buy!!
Love their 7-11 because they have triangle kimbaps that are super yummy and cheap. If you are looking for a easy breakfast to have while shopping, give their kimbaps a try! Only 1,000KRW so it's really cheap!
Amelia was really nice to bring me around knowing that it was my first time (kinda) in Korea. We walked past O'sulloc in Myeongdong and she recommended the matcha in there! To be fair, she recommended their matcha swiss roll but I was too full (and also stubborn LOL) to try it, so I went against her recommendations and got myself a cuppa of iced matcha latte instead.
bad choice guys, if you really want some latte, opt for the hot version and stay away from the iced one unless you want milk + water that was absolutely tasteless and a waste of my SGD$6.
They sell other matcha goods as well, and look! Do you spot the famous matcha spread?
O'Sulloc Tea House, Myeong Dong Branch
47-1 Myeongdong 1(il)-ga, Jung-gu, 서울특별시 South Korea

While walking back to our hotel, we chanced upon this really pretty cafe, Tulip Coffee on the way and decided to grab a cupp of coffee before scrambling back to the assembly point.
Coffee there was great and the place is so picturesque, I would recommend going there just for some ootds!
  • Tulip Coffee
  • 199-44, Euljiro 2-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul, Korea

Then we set off to DongDaeMun Plaza, for the Global Media Workshop. A make up class featuring Etude house's newest products and latest trends taught by ETUDE House's famous celebrity make up artist.
It was such an eye opening lesson because I've never seen a Korean make up artist work his magic before my very eyes before. And I can't wait to share the latest releases Etude House is going to introduce in stores soon! The Dear My Blooming Lips Talk Cushion lipsticks are my favourite so far, go check out shade 109 because I love how Etude has finally made a brown shade that is flattering on Asian skin tones.
We then went to explore the #PinkPlay concert, a huge concert featuring lots of fun and interactive booth, with prizes to be won and amazing performers on stage.

One of the bands actually sang my favourite song from my favourite Korean drama "The Heirs" on stage and they sounded even better than the originals. What a pleasant evening made, thank you Etude House!

With that, we headed back to Myeong Dong for more shopping and back to the hotel to rest a little since we had a really long day. I love media trips like that because it's planned in a way that is chill and relaxing, with lots of time in between meetings and appointments so that we are allowed enough rest. So a big big thank you, to my Etude house fam and also the bloggers, miyake, Yutaki , Jamie and Hayley that made the trip so enjoyable :)

Fast forward to day 3, everyone went their separate ways and it was my time to explore Seoul by myself!
I headed to Hongdae to check out the shopping streets and boy, it was CROWDED. But if you're looking for good and cheap clothes, Hongdae is the place to go!
I only managed to snag 2 caps and 2 rings there because I did a good job restricting myself with the clothes since I have way too much at home to be able to accommodate anymore.

Was tired, but walked into a random cafe and chilled there with a cup of coffee and a slice of cheesecake. Yumz.
After the refuel, I explored Hongdae for another hour and I chanced upon this store called Road Steak that had so many people queuing for it. The Singaporean in me told me it would be a crime to walk past it without queuing AND SO I DID.

Bought myself a 160gm ribeye steak and 20 mins later, I finally got it in my hands.

It wasn't exactly the best steak I've had, but for $6,900 KRW, it was so so worth it. A serving comes with fries, veg and tomatoes. You can top up for a huge drink or a huge beer and they are served in a really interesting way as seen:
road steak, myeongdong, korea
Credits google
The beef for juicy, tender and cut into bit sized pieces for people to walk and eat at the same time. Yippeeee
I didn't take many photos that day because I was by myself and it actually felt really really good being off social media and work for a bit.
The next morning, the skies weren't cooperating again so I had quite a late and slow start to my day. Ended up chilling in a cafe near the hotel I was at for a good 2.5 hours just people watching and enjoying my Bulgogi Panini.

With that, I concluded my Korea trip and first ever solo trip (kinda) ! Took the airport express bus and it was the best service ever. 15,000 KRW and you get like super comfy seats and people that would help you get to the airport.

A big thank you to ETUDE House for bringing me on this trip and for spoiling me nuts
X to more trips to come!

Timeless Elegance - Korean Bridal Runway Show by The Louvre Bridal

I can stare at brides in their bridal gowns all day, anyone feel me?
When I was little, I’ve always dreamt about the day I get to wear one, my perfect gown that I’ve always dreamed of, down the aisle into the arms of my prince charming. Well, it’s kinda like that still but I guess I’ve awoken from that dream and know that Prince Charming(s) only exist in good dreams and fairytales.
But hey, that doesn’t mean we girls get to be treated less than a princess on our wedding day, right?

They say a woman looks her best on her big day, and I cannot agree more. I believe a huge part of how good a bride looks is attributed to her wedding dress! Choosing the right dress to suit your wedding, skin tone and one that helps accentuate your curves at the right places is the key to looking the best you can on your big day. Now for all you Korean lovers out there * raise hands  * , you guys are in for a treat!

The Louvre Bridalis the first boutique in Singapore that offers Korean bridal gowns and grooms’ suits. You can be sure to look top to toe Korean with the talented team behind The Louvre Bridal.
I previewed the latest collection last week at their runway show, Timeless Elegance that was held at W Sentosa. The entire set up definitely transformed the space into one that was so comfortable and romantic. If you guys went down last week you’d know what I mean, but if you didn’t, don’t worry because I snapped lots of photos that day!
What I love and noticed about the pieces featured in Timeless Elegance Episode 3, Korean Designer Bridal Runway Show were the unique lace used. Korean designer gowns are usually embroidered with unique and delicate lace fabric to give off a soft romantic touch. Also, I love how the fabrics used were all really light looking, giving off an airy-fairy like feel.
Korean gowns also typically have cuts and designs that shows off the brides silhouettes, and are especially flattering to the Asian body types. I personally love how The Louvre Bridal carries a huge range of gowns in so many different cuts and sizes, even for girls with petite frames like myself!
You’d find lots of mermaid and trumpet styled gowns, that definitely helps give us asian girls a huge lift in the butt area hehe.
Oh yes, another thing I realised is that they often have colored gowns in specially picked colors that would flatter our Asian skin tones. You know how certain kinds of green, red and even blue just look so awful when matched against our yellow skin? Yep, The Louvre Bridal has got you covered.
What is a Korean wedding without a “korean groom” right? Hahaha for a complete wedding, The Louvre Bridal also carry a wide selection of suits for your groom. Korean grooms enjoy dressing up in cute prints that are both boyish yet stylish. The suits we previewed at the runway show was not only unconventional, it was also really and surprisingly very flattering on the asian models! Matt couldn’t stop saying how much he loves the suits and how this is how he wants to look like on his wedding day, good and yet different from the others. For a different look to complement your K-bride, you can opt for these checkered ones in the most flattering shade of brown. For those that still prefer to stick to the basic suits, this navy blue one is really boyish and would definitely be able to match the bride’s gown seamlessly.

View the bridal couture runway video here:

In the interview I did after the fashion show, one of the questions was my take on Korean beauty. Every model on stage looked stunning (like really really stunning) and I thought that the makeup artist did such an amazing job at bringing the Korean make up look across.
To bring out the natural look of the bride, brightening lip shades are picked over colors that are bold or neon. Korean brides usually wouldn’t be seen without their natural glow on their faces, so moisturizing products are often used to create a healthy glow look. Overall, the Korean makeup look is really soft, romantic and natural looking. So if there’s a tip I have to give, it would be to really invest in your skincare months before your wedding day! Good skin creates a good canvas for the makeup artist to work their magic.

To find out more about this year's Korean makeup trends, you can also read up on their previous blog post on their Korean makeup workshop.

It was a great afternooon spent with The Louvre Bridal, you can check out more of their pieces and packages over on their website and don’t forget to head down to their featured boutique to try on the pieces for yourself to get a feel of  it.

Working for myself

Hello guys,
How are you all doing? I feel like this space hasnt been updated with my personal posts in awhile and I'm really terribly sorry that other social media platforms seem to have replaced this space for that kind of posts. Well, if any of you are still here reading this, thank you.

Many of you probably don't know this, because I haven't had the chance to sit down properly to tell you guys this piece of news yet - but i am currently pursuing blogging full time now. As a full-time social media creative (I guess, thats the most appropriate title to give myself? I really don't like the term "blogger" or "influencer" because they have some negative connotations to it for some weird reason)

It took me many months to have the courage to pursue my passion. Drop all opportunities that were presented to me in the corporate world, to chase this dream and passion of mine.
I just wanted to let you guys know that I am very happy everyday, doing what I love. Even though it may look simple and glamorous on the outside, it really isn't. Every photo, every content, every campaign goes through hours of tears and sweat, and sleepless nights before they get put up there..
And ever since I graduated from University, the amount of hours I've spent working everyday is way more than how long I would have to work in a conventional, desk bound, corporate job.

Working for yourself means constantly setting higher and higher expectations, always pushing yourself to be better and achieve even more. The more hardworking you are, the more you get done, the greater the satisfaction you feel. But when is it ever enough?

I guess working for myself can be more stressful than working for someone else. After all, you are your own biggest critic, and humans are never satisfied. Our eyes are set on the next goal once everytime we achieve one, so I gotta constantly tell myself to slow down, enjoy the moment because I'm doing what I love and not many have the luxury to do that.

But I am happy, and I'm contented. Thank you all for reading this random post of mine with no order nor structure, but wherever you are or whatever you're doing. I hope you, my dear reader, will find the same amount of joy and happiness too xx

I'll be heading to London in just a few weeks time, can't wait!

Garuda Indonesia's first flight to Medan from Singapore

HORAS!
That is the local greeting, which was also pretty much the word we relied upon the most throughout the entire trip. It was my first time to Medan, in fact, my first time in North Sumatra!
We were there on the newly relaunched flight between Medan and Singapore via Garuda Indonesia . So starting from 14th June 2016, there will be daily flights operated by Indonesia's National airline, Garuda Indonesia on this route!
We were welcomed inside our very own Changi Airport Terminal by the Garuda Indonesia's staff, stewardess and they even had hip hop performances and a flash mob for us!
Did you know that Garuda Indonesia was awarded a five-star rating by Skytrax, making it the seventh airline to earn this prestigious award? After winning the title "World's Best Regional Airline" in 2012, Garuda Indonesia was named “World’s Best Economy Class” in 2013 and was recently awarded the  ‘World's Best Airline Cabin Crew’ by Skytrax for the third consecutive year in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Garuda Indonesia officially became the 20th member of the SkyTeam alliance in March 2014.
Wow that is a whole long list of awards, I knew we were in safe hands and indeed, we had such a pleasant flight there and back.

So let me fill you guys in on what I did when I was there. Upon arrival at the Kualanamu Airport, a bus was already waiting for us and we journeyed up to Parapat, which was a good 7 hours away. The coach ride was really comfortable and we had a local guide to tell us more about the place along the way.

We checked in Niagara Hotel, a hotel that overlooks the world's largest Lake - Lake Toba.
The views we woke up to was serene, peaceful and beautiful.
We then went on a Samosir Tour that required us to take a ferry to Tomok, and can you believe how big Lake Toba is? All the sights you are going to see below are all different sights of the same lake. We actually spent 3 days exploring the lake and every sight looked different!
We were brought on a local tour once we got to Samosir Island, and the first stop was the
Tomb of King Ompu Sidabutar.
Then we got invited to watch a puppet show which Charlene and I got sabo-ed to represent the group to dance. So we did their cultural dance and had quite a bit of fun.
The Sipiso Piso Waterfall
Doesn't it look like it came out of a scene from The Hobbit?
How rare is it to find so much nature and land all in one, the view was indeed breathtaking.
At night, we checked into our best accommodation for the trip, Simalem Resort, a resort that sprawls over 206 hectares (and 1 football field is 0.62 hectares btw) so can you imagine how big this area is!
It has its own farmers, exports its own vegetables and fruits.. have 5 resorts in there, golf courses, jungles, forests and more.
This was the day we journeyed back to Medan and paid their local fruit markets a visit. It was super interesting because they sell everything there, from flowers to local produce, vegetables, meat, and even pet animals!
We also got to ride on horses for only SGD$1
After the market, we went to the Lumbini National Park , a buddhist temple that was completely GOLD in color.
So that's it guys! Ending this post with a very touristy shot. heheh
If you're looking for a short getaway and experience nature like never before, you can always consider Medan and all the above places mentioned because they are pretty nearby Singapore if you've only got a few days to spare!

There is now an Economy Class All-In-Promotional Fare to Medan for my readers at only SGD 248.
All you have to do is quote #GarudafliestoMedan when making a reservation at  sin-reservation@garudaindonesia.com.sg from now till Nov 2016.
*Fares subject to changes due to the fluctuation of taxes. Terms and conditions apply.

Thank you Nuffnang Singapore, Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia and Garuda Indonesia for having us!

Nook Bed, Deluxe Room, Fourpoints by Sheraton Singapore
Weekends are so hard to come by now that I've officially progressed into #adulthood .
With more work piling up, a boyfriend that has stepped into the working world, weekends are so so precious. Matt and I would normally try to keep our weekends free from work (although we have not been completely successful yet because I seem to love my job too much lol) so that we can spend quality time together.

The last weekend, we went for a staycation!
I love staycations because it feels like you're on a holiday because you go back to a different "home" and have the whole hotel experience. Every staycation we have in singapore automatically turns us into tourists of our own country and surprisingly, there are still so much more to our little red dot that I'm unaware of, even though I spent the last 22 years growing up here.
This time, we headed to the newly revamped Four Points by Sheraton, Riverview hotel located at Havelock Road.
Four Points by Sheraton deluxe room, twin bed
If you guys were familiar with the old Riverview Hotel, this is what it has been rebranded to - Four Points by Sheraton! Boasting a more modern, sophisticated concept.
The spacious room was so welcoming, and guys, you need to check out the view. This nook really set the entire ambience of the room, idea for my future home maybe? :P
singapore, hotel, fourpoints, sheraton, riverview hotel
The hotel has a really nice and chill bar below, The Best Brew with liveband music and happy hour offers that are actually quite affordable. Their selection of alcohols were also pretty decent so matt and I got ourselves a glass of whisky each at the bar at night.
Shout out to the bartender for giving us such a huge serving!
the best brew, fourpoints by sheraton, singapore
We checked out the next morning and headed for their Sunday Brunch where we had a huge selection of sashimi, crab legs, crayfish, oysters etc and free flow Moscato/Prosecco for only $52++
That is quite a good deal because you can hardly even find buffets out there at this price on a weekday, especially when there's free-flow of moscato/prosecco!
four points eatery, sunday brunch, buffet
four points eatery, sunday brunch, buffet

We then headed to our first Gold Class movie that night and boy, was it shiok! The reclinable seats and blanket really reminded me of watching shows at home, super duper comfortable. But the price also very nice la huh. hahaha can't do those things too often ><

Hope you guys had a great weekend!
I've just dropped a few new videos on Youtube, so do show me some love over there and subscribe!

Ultimate Mask Showdown

fresh black tea instant perfecting mask, review, singapore
innisfree super volcanic mousse, fresh, kiehls tumeric, cranberry, mask,

I looked into my skincare stash one night and realised how much of a mask junkie I was. I literally own so many different kinds of masks that I use on different days, for different occasions.
So today, i'm gonna do a round up of the masks I love to use and when I would usually reach out for them.

This mask is like a jar of honey, literally. That is how you know, that the product is almost as pure as it can get, when it looks, smells and feels (and even taste hahaha) like honey.

For: This mask is for hydrating the skin, more so for the overall wellness of skin health.
I use this as and when I want, and it's the kind of mask that I feel you can use everyday or even once in 2 days because it's for the maintenance of the skin.

I love this mask so much that I did an entire post reviewing and raving about it before, you can read it here. This mask is yellow due to the tumeric, and contains little crushed cranberry seeds that provide a little exfoliating action once you rinse it off.
I love how it leaves my skin feeling and looking brighter and more radiant instantly, from the very first use.

For: This mask is for days when my skin is looking dull and in need of a good cleanse
However, my friends with sensitive skin will have to note that this can be a little too drying for some, so I only use it once a week, or once in 1.5 weeks.

This baby is a super expensive tub of clarifying mask that I received as a christmas gift from matt awhile ago. An effective clarifying mask that draws out the impurities from your skin well and effectively.

For: This mask is for days when my skin feels clogged and after i've applied too much make up for the week.
However this is very potent and it will strip your skin off of its moisture. So be sure to only use it as a clarifying treatment, or as a spot treatment and only use it on areas that need that extra detox, else, go in with a hydrating mask afterwards to supplement the moisture lost.

I'm not only talking about the Pearl Light one that has been photographed in this post, but in general, all mediheal masks. I love all of them, because they deliver what they claim and I can see effects with every use, which is really amazing,

For: Depending on what you need, Mediheal has a huge range of masks that you can choose from.
I especially love sheet masks for travel because they are disposable, one-time use and don't take up much space at all in my luggage.

This mask has a cooling sensation once applied to the skin, and it works wonders. It is high in ingredients that are high in anti-oxidants that reveals softer, smoother skin. The plus point? It smells really amazing and reminds me of "Cheng Tng" hahaha.

For: Overall wellness of the skin
I use this interchangeably with my the other face masks for the maintaining of the skin, so on weeks I'm less busy, i'll do it more often!

The texture of this is really nothing I've tried before. It's a mousse mask that isn't foamy, but has a buttery-creamy texture. The mask glides over the skin very smoothly and goes on very thick and richly. I thought that this is a good affordable clarifying mask, but it's not as effective as the Glamglow supermud mask, I must say. But for almost 1/10 of the price, I think it's pretty worth the buy.

For:
Clarifying and Detoxing
Same as all clarifying masks, they are usually drying so only use it when necessary! Do load up on the hydrators after using it to make sure that your skin gets enough moisture back :)

Hope you guys enjoyed this little post of mine!

London 2016: Day 1 to 3 - Flat Iron Steak , Covent Garden, Monmouth Coffee

Hello guys!
I'm sure you all should know that I'm in London by now, and after the whole episode about the Instagram hacking and such, i'm even more determined to make sure that I become more diligent at sharing the photos I've taken across a few different platforms in case one gets erased. What a scary thought that would be, and that was exactly what I was most worried about when my account got hacked - that they would delete all the hard work and memories, but thank God, they didn't.

Enough of the negative things, let's lift our spirits up by recapping on the past few days!
We checked out the streets and cafes nearby and I'm really so amazed by how blooms thrive here.
Is it the weather? or the people taking care of it!
We encountered something really heartwarming while chancing upon this pub hidden behind the alleyways at borough. Obviously I was drawn to it because of how vintage and pretty it looked, so Julia and I decided to stop for a bit to shoot some photos. One of the residents stopped by on his bike and spent a good 5 mins chatting with us, asking where we were from, and how we've been liking London so far.. It was through him that we found out that Gladstone (the pub) was about to shut down because a residential company had bought over the land the bar was sitting on and raised the rent that had them to cease business. He told us to "save the bar" and to spread the word, what a heartwarming sight to see how the individual locals put in so much effort to protect something they all love and believe in :>

So for my outfit, I wore the Not So Basic Tube Top, paired with The Versatile Knot Skirt
Both come in a wide selection of colors and what I love about this outfit is how versatile these 2 separate pieces are. Take off the collar from the top and it instantly changes the look completely. And did you know that the knot skirt can also be worn as a tube top??

Bag: Charles and Keith
Shoes: Wildpeonies

MONMOUTH COFFEE
So far, the best coffee I've had in London. I love my coffee strong and slightly dense, which I find only Monmouth has given me the consistency and taste I like so far. Other english cafes usually serve their coffee with lots of milk and water, making it a lot more diluted.
If you're in for good coffee, try monmouth! There are a few branches across London, but you'll probably have to join the line of  queue filled with tourists, of which 30% of them will be Singaporeans, LOL
DAY TWO
It's covent garden time!
It was a saturday when we decided to head to covent garden to look look see see (haha), so it was pretty crowded! Covent Garden is good for shopping, and really to soak in the London energy because there are lots of buskers lining the streets, street magicians etc.
And if you're not up for shopping, you can EAT over there! Lots and lots of good restaurants are there.

We went to FLAT IRON of course, I've heard too many reviews about it to resist. Who can resist 10 pounds steak man?! Okay so we went there quite early in the afternoon and realized that we were another 30 mins to go before the restaurant opened.
Usually I'll be so grumpz if this happened in singapore because our weather is so ridiculously bad and humid and I'd hate myself so badly for not checking the opening hours beforehand.
But in london, boy... the weather is so perfect I could sit there all day! And each shop has a bench placed outside for others to chill there, so no complaints.
I'm wearing

This twisted knot tube top is the most flattering piece I brought on this trip i think, I wore it out for 4 times already! Paired it with the Almost There BF Jeans which is slightly cropped and ends slightly above my ankle. This crop effect gives an illusion of longer legs and it makes you look taller because more skin is shown! I fit size S perfectly.

Now FLAT IRON, Im salivating already.
I ordered the usual flat iron steak (GBP $10) and matt ordered the daily specials - The Denver (GBP$15) . His was a better cut of steak so it was tastier, but mine was so soft and tender too. I wouldn't mind having it everyday.
And look at the cutest knife to eat with! I'm sure many other diners were also very intrigued by the mini butcher knife, they had signs all over the menu to tell customers not to bring it home LOL
you can purchase one from them at GBP$10 !
DAY THREE

We spent the early part of Day 3 walking around Covent Garden (again) hahahaha before heading to Bicester Village in the afternoon. We headed back for some cosmetics shopping - They have KIKO and Charlotte Tilbury there! And here's the outfit I wore to keep me nice and snuggly.

I love how romantic and feminine this combination is! Hardly saw anyone in midi skirts over here in London so this outfit felt quite special, like it helped me stand out from the crowd or something LOL!
Decided to pair the skirt differently this time, the slit at the front instead of the back for a more casual look.. and it helps with walking long distances too!

Hope you guys are all well and happy.
I'll check back soon when I can with more updates!
First 3 days outfits are all from Topazette, so if you're interested, check them out and sign up for their mailing list to be alerted on future new arrivals and sales.

IS YOUR BODYWASH TOO HARSH FOR YOU? | Dove Sensitive Bodywash

$

Having sensitive skin can be such a pain sometimes. This easily irritable, thin and eczema prone skin almost has a mind on its own. Sometimes it gets upset, sometimes enraged and angry, sometimes it becomes dull and oh, on days when it feels like it doesn't get enough moisture, it sheds (or rather, flake) too!

Now, if you face the same problem as I do, we all know how troublesome it is when it comes to skincare products. We gotta be extra careful, not to use anything too harsh or too rich, and most importantly, find the right balance between keeping our skin clean AND hydrated at the same time.
I've been an ardent fan of Dove and their bodywashes (in fact, DOVE was the brand my family doctor recommended me to try when I first went to him for my skin issues) for many many years. Decades even! The normal variant (the one in the signature dark blue bottle) has been the holy grail for my family (we ladies are all plagued with eczema and sensitive skin LOL) and when they came out with the sensitive skin variant, we all rejoiced!
Really appreciate brands that pay extra attention to other consumers with different needs, and DOVE is a brand I am very proud to represent because they believe in the notion of 'Real Beauty' for women which I can't agree more with.
If you are unaware of the Dove Real Beauty Campaign, you can check it out here.
Basically it talks about the definition of beauty and how the world needs a wider definition for it as it had become limiting and unattainable. Studies showed that only 2% of the women around the world would describe themselves as beautiful. It is a campaign that is full of meaning and invaluable lessons that I'm so proud of the brand for :>

WHY I LOVE THE DOVE SENSITIVE BODY WASH

IT IS SO MILD TO THE SKIN
This is actually the MAIN reason why we sensitive skin people have to shun away from so many body washes in the market. More often than not, they contain harsh ingredients that make us feel squeaky clean, but leave our skin dry and tight.
Dove Sensitive, on the other hand is hypoallergenic, soap free and clinically tested to make sure that they are safe for use. It surprisingly doesn't foam up as it does not contain any surfactant that is commonly found in other body washes, but instead the consistency of the body wash is smooth, and glides on really seamlessly onto the skin.
It left my skin feeling so soft after it has been rinsed off, definitely a product I will recommend to everyone because it not only retains the nutrients of the skin, it even goes beyond moisturising and cleansing!
The fresh scent it comes with was another huge plus for me, it was not too over-powering with just the right amount to make me smell and feel properly cleansed and READY to take on the world!
Don't we all love a good bath when you come out smelling and feeling so great?!
Now if you want to try the Dove Sensitive Body Wash for yourself, you can redeem some FREE SAMPLES for yourself!
Just gotta head over to this site and key in some information and you'll receive a 200ML sample from Dove. I sincerely hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do xx

London Part 2 - Bicester Village, Camden Market, The Closet Lover

Read Part 1 of London here, where I covered places like Borough Market, Flat Iron Steak, Covent Garden and more.

BICESTER VILLAGE
Over the weekend, we headed to Bicester Village, the ultimate outlet shopping area in London. Prior to going, I read up on it and everyone said that it was super worth going and is the best place to shop if you're looking for designer brands that are slightly past seasons.

So we booked a return train ticket that departed from London Marylebone train station. The train journey was really comfortable and quick, in less than 50 mins, we were at Bicester Village!
The downside is definitely the price. It was $50 GBP (ouch) per pax for return tickets, so yes only go if you're there to HUNT for gifts/items because you don't wanna blow SGD$100 to go there to window shop :X
Every spot is picturesque hehe.
Top: Upcoming on The Closet Lover

We went there on a sunday, so its no surprise that it was SUPER crowded. In fact, there were so many people there that we even bumped into some other groups of friends there LOL. Shops had long queues to get in, and the good items were all gone early during the day.
After speaking to the staffs, they told us that most shops get their stocks on Wednesdays, so the best time to head to Bicester would be on thursdays, early morning.
I went back empty handed, because my sole purpose was to head to Bicester to try my luck at a past-season Celine Luggage tote. But guys, don't even bother with Bicester if you're there for Celine because their bags are so popular that they don't even make it to the outlet stores. In there I only saw 2 odd-colored trapezes, the Celine Edge bag and neon colored wallets and shades.

But! Some other brands had really really good selections include: Ted Baker, Salvatore Ferragamo, Polo Ralph Lauren, Prada, Coach, Timberland, and Michael Kors. At least to me, these are the shops worth checking out if you're thinking of getting something for these brands!
Top: Upcoming on The Closet Lover

I went home empty handed, disappointed and jaded. Sigh! If only I did my homework on Celine, but if you ask me, Bicester is indeed worth going if you're looking for the above mentioned brands, or if you don't mind going for odd colors, you'll be able to enjoy lots and lots of savings, some even up to 60-70% off the retail prices!

CAMDEN MARKET
Being in London for the 5th time means covering the rest of the places others have recommended before, and we decided to head to Camden Market on a weekday to check out what all that hype was about. I must say, it was quite a disappointing trip because the market itself wasn't interesting and the clothes selection sold by the vendors were all pretty pricey and outdated.
If I had to describe the market, I would say it's the closest to Bugis Street I found in london.

Stopped by for some coffee at Cafe Lorna, and it was bland and diluted like the usual english coffee I've been getting. So it was pretty meh :(
Sights were really gorgeous as usual, I explored the market in this gorgeous baby pink number from The Closet Lover that has really intricate and sturdy lace details all over.
I love how TCL clothes always fit me like a glove, if you need a size gauge, I'm in size XS for all of their pieces, including this Ashlynn Lace Dress in Nude Peach that has just been launched on their site recently.
My bestfriend said I look alot more girly and can even be mistaken as a korean girl on the streets in this, and that made me so happy LOL!

The next day, I met up with Jon with my girlfriends and he brought us around London to all of his favourite photo spots. We had a blast! It's really amazing to meet fellow singaporeans overseas, there's just this unspoken rule about asians sticking together and standing up for each other.
Even when I'm on a crowded tube, I'll feel safer when I stand next to them hahaha.

We headed up to the National Theatre for some grey architecture and I love how the photos turned out, especially with this simple, blue and white ensemble.

Bag: Charles and Keith

I picture this outfit to be the most suitable for a sweet date or an afternoon of english tea session with the ladies, it's so girly and the sash on Shantel Stripes Midi Skirt actually allows for a bit of adjustments to the waistline of the skirt, for a much better fit.
I'm not gonna lie, I had to loosen the sash a little after dinner, and the subtle stripes print actually hid the bulge and elongated my legs!

For all the outfits I wore from Theclosetlover on this trip, you can head over to my Instagram with the hashtag #monginlondon #tclootd or check out their page for more.

I'll be back soonest for more London updates! Meanwhile, stay safe, happy and lovely as always you guys xx

Lavender Picking

My first time at a Lavender Field, in fact, any flower field and it took. my. breath. away
I wish you guys were there with me to breathe in the fresh lavender scent, so refreshing, light and this lavender field in Hitchin is now secured its spot in my must-sees when you're in London.
Hitchin is just an hour train ride away from Central London, and for just $4.50pounds, you can enjoy a whole afternoon of fun at the lavender field.
A pair of scissors is provided for you to bring the lavenders home. Beware of bees though, there are a TON of bees in the fields and they are my biggest nightmare. But the saying goes, don't disturb them and they won't disturb you too :>

I chose this dress from Lovextheory for the trip to Hitchin because I wanted to create the ethereal feel with the gorgeous lavender backdrop. And it did, i'm so pleased with how the photos turned out!
Off shoulders are a huge hit this summer and with a beautiful chiffon pleat waterfall draping down till my ankles, this is perfect for a date night out or to a birthday party.

MY ONE-OF-A-KIND JAPAN EXPERIENCE 2016

It's my first time in Sushiland (I mean, japan) and i've always wondered why everyone who has been to Japan would always long to return. Matt's parents have gone to Japan about 5 times in a year!
Finally finally, I got my chance to go and seized the opportunity when ABC Cooking School came.
Why do I say that this Japan Trip was a one-of-a-kind experience? Well, because we did nothing touristy at all. NOTHING. And for that, I am super thankful because we were all so well taken care of by the team, got shown a part of Japan that tourists don't usually get to see/experience.
On top of that, it's my first time in Japan, so it was SUCH A TREAT.
First stop after touching down at Narita Airport - The Tomisato-shi farmer's market.
TOMISATO-SHI FARMER'S MARKET
Watermelons were in season that time and we were treated to a few huge, sweet and extremely juicy watermelons on the spot. Just look at our faces after a long plane ride, ahh satisfaction
In japan, they take their farming business very very seriously. Each watermelon has a sticker with a QR code that is linked to the individual farmers that grew them, this would ensure accountability of the melons and buyers can know more about the place it was grown in, more information about the farmers and the place of origin.
Maybe that's why every bloom, fruit and vegetable in Japan is so perfect looking?

We then got to try our hands at FUTOMAKI SUSHI! This activity was even more meaningful because we had our classes at their local townhalls with local residents and wives teaching us the art of making Japan's famous "fat rolled sushi"

FUTOMAKI-SUSHI MAKING
WITH THE LOCAL RESIDENTS
It was super fun to see the different designs made by the teachers!
They made designs from crabs, to different kinds of flowers, to pandas etc.
One with my fellow chefs Gladys and Victoria and our teacher :)
Lunch is served! The best miso soup ever freshly homemade, super yum!
UYJYO TOOTHPICK MAKING
When I saw this on the itinerary, I was like "huh? we're gonna make toothpicks? Aren't they all like machine-made these days?"
I was so wrong. Although most of the toothpicks we use (and dispose so easily after one use) are machine-engineered, there is still a trade of Uyjyo Toothpick Making that exists in Japan where these japanese shifu carve, slice and polish toothpicks one by one by hand.
See the green piece of stem on my "table"? We had to make them as thin as a toothpick!
Tough tough work!

Hopped next door to a museum and this happened.
How do you fancy a warrior-mong? ><
My bestfriend said I would get my country in trouble if a person like me goes on the battlefields hahaha
PITSTOP AT A SUPERMART
RYUGUJO SPA HOTEL, MIKAZUKI
Japanese Style Room

Our humble abode for the first night. We got to stay at a spa hotel, where a ton of locals flock to for their onsen baths during the weekends and holidays.

BLUEBERRIES PICKING
If you're in Japan and bored of the city life, you can go BLUEBERRIES picking! It's a superrrrr amazing experience because Singapore imports all of our blueberries so it was my first time picking blueberries and having them at its freshest.
So many first times on this trip, so touched *cries* haha. Apparently the more white dust on the blueberries, the fresher it is?? Super happy mine were all covered in white dust lol.
After a 30mins picking in the farm, we proceeded to the little cafe and had even more blueberries.
Blueberries cupcake, blueberry ice cream, blueberry smooth etc. I almost turned into one myself!
But in case you don't know, blueberries are super expensive in Singapore and they are one of the power fruits that is jam-packed with lots of health benefits like lowering cholesterol, strengthening bones etc.

Off to a traditional bamboo forest for more jaw-dropping experiences, Somen noodles!
This was probably the highlight of the trip for me because not only was it fun, its something even locals themselves only get to experience when a special occasion arise.

NAGASHI SOMEN (FLOWING NOODLES) EXPERIENCE
Basically, somen noodles and other things like tomatoes etc get flowed down a long bamboo pole in running water and you have to catch them with your chopsticks and dip them into a special dipping sauce, tsuyu. Catch the action in my Japan VLOG coming to you on my youtube channel very soon and you will get what I mean!

Our last stop for the day was the Agusta ranch for some ice cream! Where else can we get ice cream any fresher than at a ranch!

ICE CREAM AT AUGUSTA RANCH
My pistachio with milk ice cream was really really smooth, rich and good. Perfect for the super hot weather omg

Then the highlight, we tried our hands on 2 famous Japanese dishes that day at the ABC Cooking Midtown Studio Japan. ABC Cooking Studio is the world's leading Japanese Cooking Studio and they specialize in conducting  Japanese cooking and baking classes in 7 different countries, including Singapore!

Was very honored to participate in the class where we learnt how to make Teriyaki Chicken and Inverse Maki at the Midtown studio in Japan itself.
JAPANESE CUISINE COOKING CLASS AT ABC COOKING STUDIO
The teacher first demonstrated how it was done and we were all ears, then time to get our hands dirty :>
Our masterpiece carefully plated , finally!

ABC Cooking Studio Singapore offers a range of classes - cooking, kids, cake, wagashi and bread. For those interested in the courses, check out their site or head down to their studio at 391A Orchard Road Takashimaya, #03-12 to see for yourself.
I would recommend signing up for some cooking/baking courses for a change ! It's a super fun activity to do with your friends and family, and everything is so guided with professional coaches, so you will always be in good hands.

Check back later for the Japan VLOG soon!

Thank you ABC Cooking Studio SG and Japan Tourism Board for organizing this amazing trip for us, I hope I did it justice with my posts and I'm hoping that these activities will be made available to other tourists soon because they are simply so fun and rich in culture, will be back to japan again for sure!

Romantic Bath , United Kingdom

Over the weekend, we headed back to Bath, a small quaint town located just 2 hours away from London. It was my 4th time to Bath and I can't seem to resist visiting this place whenever I made a trip up to London. You guys will know why when you see the pictures, the whole town looks as though it jumped out of a storybook set in the medieval times!

Although it's a pity that the place is now so much more commercialised compared to the previous time I visited (2 years ago) . Back then, the streets weren't even lined with shops. Today, we see the giants like H&M, All Saints, L'occitane all lining the town... It's a bad sign to me, but I knew it was a matter of time businesses and investors flock in to such a gorgeous place like this.

I strutted around Bath in this gorgeous midi dress from Shop Nassa, they named it Alexa, one of my favorite babygirl names too!
The Alexa Grid Lace Midi Skater Dress comes with 2 thin, non-adjustable straps that gives an illusion of more slender arms, and a gorgeous two layered lined waterfall pleat skirt at the bottom.
Not to forget, subtle detailing at the waist area too!
What I loved about Alexa was that it was super gorgeous for a day out to a place like Bath. Romantic, cooling and a date that requires me to be more lady-like than usual. Plus, the dress speaks for itself! There's no need for excess accessories or fancy footwear. Saves us all the trouble, yes?
It was a gorgeous day out with this one, definitely a day to remember and I will be sure to come back for the fifth time !

London Part 3 - Big Ben, Southbank, Wicked The Musical

Where did all the time fly to? In the blink of an eye, okay a few blinks that is, my time in the UK is now down to my last few days.
Now let’s talk about the things I did over the past few days, I finally decided to cover the touristy bits on this trip after being here for 2 weeks! Since I’ve been to London so so many times, I was convinced that I’m not gonna succumb to going to the usual tourist spots (that I ALWAYS go to) , and explore new areas instead. But looks like I couldn’t feel like I’ve been to London without checking off those few places huh ;)

Besides, they are the most picturesque sights of London City so I just had to model some of the clothes I brought against the Big Ben, London Eye and more.
We were lucky that we managed to get a few quick shots that were relatively clear before the Big Ben. You guys should’ve been there to see  how it all went down.

Bestfriend: “OKAY NOW GO GO NOW”
Me: “Runs in and pose, change pose, change pose in 2 seconds”

Or it would be something like that
Bestfriend: “There’s a lot of people in the shot. You just hold your pose first I’ll snap when I can”
Me: Stands there in my half-walking-pose for what seemed like an eternity, being all embarassed because passer-bys looked at me like WHUT??!

LOL. But here they are, enjoy!x
I was wearing a full ensemble from Shoplovet – A thin, long sleeved white top is essential for the summer. I love that it is thin and really soft, that allowed me to tie the front up for a more casual look.
This is also my first pair of distressed jeans in dark denim color!
SHOP EVERYDAY COMFY BUTTON SHIRT HERE
SHOP RIPPED KNEE JEANS HERE
Lunch was the amazing Flat Iron as usual, for a good serving of steak for just $10GBP, you can't go wrong!

A few days later we decided to walk along the other side of the river and I couldn’t resist the Big Ben again, LOL. In Europe, people walk a lot because the weather is forgiving and the sights are beautiful. Especially in London, the touristy spots are usually located really near each other so if you are planning to visit London, do pack comfy walking shoes!

A lot of you asked me about my pair, they are from PRIMARK and I got them for only $6GBP, cheap cheap.  It also went so well with my High Cut A-Class dress
There’s just something so classy about high neck dresses, and this one from Shoplovet is a bodycon version that is flattering and suitable for many many occasions.
Throw on a bold statement necklace for a night’s out, or a simple one with sneakers for a casual day in school.
Coffee coffee all the time, everywhere. I blame all the flat whites I had for the weight I gained here. Time to work out and eat clean when I get back, I must. Hahaha although it has never seemed to work every time I say it.
SHOP HIGH-CUT A-CLASS KNIT DRESS HERE

Also caught WICKED the musical for the second time that night! This cast is much better than the one I caught 2 years ago, in my opinion. This was me, shivering in the cold with my bacon sandwich at 8AM waiting in line for the front row seats that day.
If you've got time, I would recommend waking up early to go to the theatre to queue for front row, discounted seats. We sat so close to the stage that the musical felt so surreal and personal.
You guys have to catch Wicked guys! Second time and I'm still in love.
Lastly, THIS blush dress. I knew I wanted it when I first saw it. Ribbed, midi length and shoelace details at the top, what’s there not to love?
We met Jon for a tour around southbank as we combed National Theatre, Tate modern and eventually took a walk back to borough and here are the sights in between.
The view above the Tate modern observatory deck. Oh London, you so pretty.

I am finally back in this hot and humid little red dot, finally! Feeling undoubtedly a little bittersweet to be back of course. Back to all my skincare and makeup products feels amazing, but that also means back to insane humidity and a whole pile of unfinished work haha.

Thank God for this space and for social media because I now have a reason to recollect these memories. To be honest, if I didn't have all these platforms to share on, I wouldn't even be bothered to take nice photographs. Oh imagine the amount of memories lost!

Anyway I wanted to share three outfits I wore during the summer in London, all from Sassydream.
High tea was at one of the prettiest cafe of all time - Granger & Co. located conveniently at the King's Cross Station. Glass walls with Marbled & gold interiors, cute waiters and incredible food... yum!
I was super happy I chose to wear an outfit that was centred around the nude color palette because it went so well with the sand colored tables and my gold accessories. Comfort is extremely important especially on a hot sunny day, so I love how the top is very very soft and comfortable! You can't really tell from the photos, but it is made of a really quality t-shirt material, just a hella' more trendy one hehe.

On another weekend, matt and I decided to head over to check out the South Kensington and Chelsea area since his London colleagues recommended us those areas when we mentioned we wanted to shoot some photos.
South Kensington and Chelsea are both the affluent areas of London, and it was both surprisingly empty on a sunday, yay, another spot that has little tourists! Once we stepped out of the tube station, we immediately knew why she recommended us to come here  -simply because its different from the other parts of London. Idk how to put it and Idk how different it is exactly, but there's something unique about the people there, the architecture and feel of the place.
Oh, and you'll get to see a lot of rich people cruising around in their sports cars and bentleys LOL, ah.. maybe that is the difference.

I wore this one-of-a-kind Robynn Buckle Dress because it was so comfy and yet posh at the same time. Army green for the warm skin-tone gal like me anytime (Y)

SHOPPING ALONG OXFORD CIRCUS

The simplest outfit one can opt for is a top that speaks for itself and a simple pair of bottoms that doesnt compete for attention. This is a fine example of how I managed to put myself together in just 10 mins, in a comfy and flattering get up to head down for some shopping fix.

Never envisioned myself to look good in pink, but being someone that writes about fashion, I knew I had to experiment with my style a little. So i took the plunge and ordered a Faye laced top in the prettiest dusty pink shade.
Surprisingly, it matched pretty ok with my olive tan skin! The shade of pink isn't too barbie, which would look absolutely terrible on me, but instead I would say that this dusty pink shade is pretty similar to a rose hue, carrying a little bit of warmth inside.

Thank you Shopsassydream for dressing me up and I hope you guys are having a wonderful start to september!
