Bangkok 2016 Part 1

I've probably been to Bangkok, Thailand over 10 times  now, and each time, I find myself exploring new places, doing new things.. and growing with the beautiful city that i would probably call my second home since I'm so familiar in that land already.

Earlier this year, Matt and I decided on an impromptu trip to the land of smiles and I only had a very short time to have my itinerary planned out. Without having anything in mind, we agreed that we wanted to do something different. Apart from the usual shopping at the same few malls, we dug in further on the places we could go this time.
First thing first, I got in touch with my favourite hotel in the world, klapsons The River Residences, Bangkok. You guys should already know why I call them my favorite, read this post I wrote on them the last time I stayed with them and you will know why.

The big spacious rooms, the impeccable service, the view, the entire experience is nothing but top notch. It's so good that I even recommended a few blogger friends to stay there whenever they visited BKK.
If you followed my trip there, you will know that I did an instagram takeover for one of my favorite brands, Topazette . So all of the outfits you're gonnna be seeing in my BKK travelogue series are from there, do look out for the links to each outfit somewhere in this post if you're interested okay!
Knit Bandage Top& Hole New World Jeggings are both from Topazette and I've got nothing but praises for these two pieces because they are so comfy, I chose them as my go-to flight outfit.
These jeggings are such a statement, you will surely stand out from the crowd.

Cart out with "mongtpz" for 10% off
The first night was a pretty hectic one, we checked in, got ready and headed out to Platinum area to get some errands done. It was then I chanced upon the popular Charcoal Ice Cream cart, Demi Concept situated outside Platinum Mall and decided to give it a go.
THINGS IN BKK ARE SO EXPENSIVE NOW???!
I paid 75THB for this. And it really is quite bad. LOL
But for the sake of nice photos I took, I shall post them up here and advise you guys to only admire the cute little shop front. You will probably leave feeling quite cheated because 75THB for a cone of watered down milk ice cream with black (or grey) coloring is definitely not worth it at all, in my opinion.
We then headed to a new night market that we haven't been to before, Rot Fai Market , a "train station" market that is filled with lots of food, clothes, little stalls and snacks. There are 2 Rot Fai Markets in Bangkok, and we went to the one nearest to the National Cultural Centre BTS Station.

This is a must go! It is definitely more unknown to tourists compared to the rest, so you'll definitely be able to find less rip-offs there. It is sectioned into a few large areas, and my favorite was the food one because there were SO MANY STALLS and we literally ate till we dropped.
This is the famous crab meat noodle that you wont miss because the queue is SUPER long and stretches over 3 stalls or something.
Find cakes, crepe, coconut desserts and all there at super affordable prices! Each slice was only 30 THB and we couldn't resist it because they're so pretty la. Hahaha

We only decided to stay in Bangkok for 2 days as we decided to spend the rest of the 2 days exploring out of Bangkok to Cha Am instead.
The second day of bangkok was spent cafe hopping and just roaming around doing nothing because to be honest, I am not that big of a fan of shopping in Bangkok anymore. Haha
I wore a sleek, premium vest romper which can also be found on Topazette, and paired it with a super roomy sling number from Charles and Keith.
We boarded the private yatch provided by klapsons to catch a BTS ride at Saphan Taksin just opposite across the Chao Phraya river.

We arrived at Thong Lor thinking we would be able to have a good meal at Roast, but didn't know that they shifted from the old location to just 2 streets down. So we settled for a relatively crowded ramen restaurant along the way and it wasn't that bad a choice afterall.
The restaurant is called Misoya Ramen, they serve really good and generous portions of ramen (just that it was a tad too salty, so ask for some broth to dilute the broth a little) with really good aburi-ed pork!
Misoya Bangkok

Apart from shopping and eating, I was also super dependent on social media to find out the good places to explore. I wouldn't have survived if it wasn't for my Pocket Wifi device that I rented from the Changi Recommends counter at the airport.
This little device provided fast wifi, and could connect up to 8 devices all at once.
On top of that, the team even lovingly prepared a portable charger that was already fully charged so that I can keep the device alive for a super long time in case the battery ran out.
So thank you, Changi Recommends for being my go-to provider for all of my trips to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Perth so far!

We then roamed about, visited the Audrey Cafe which I previously reviewed here and decided to head to Healthland in Asoke for a massage but then left after stepping foot into the premises because we were told that the wait was 2 hours. WHAT. 2 hours!
So yes, anyway it's nothing great and it was also much more expensive than the rest so we didn't bother.
Guess Matt and I are the only ones who'd have to rack our brains to think of our next activity in Bkk lol. We very much wanted to head back to our cosy room at klapsons but didn't want to waste the day away sleeping so we decided to have some "me" or rather "us" time and headed to klapsons gym.
In my new Vivre Active Gear hehe
With that, we ended day 2.
Okay la didn't end that way I was kidding, i'm just too lazy to include photos of our dinner that night because they are lost somewhere in my sea of memory cards LOL.

So yes, day 3 onwards was Cha Am so stay tuned!

Sephora Haul on Plus! Gateway

Online shopping has been a huge part of my everyday life the past few years and I'm sure it has become an essential tool for all of you guys as well. With the rise of e-commerce and social media, the internet has brought us with many more ways to enhance our shopping experiences and the first thing that comes to my mind is CONVENIENCE.

Yes, convenience! I no longer have to be there physically to purchase the things I want, cashless payments for safer and quicker transactions and on top of that, having them all delivered to your doorsteps!
But apart from all these benefits that are already known to us, how else can, as consumers, benefit from shopping online?

That's where Plus!comes to fill in the gap and make it even better for us!
Singaporean folks who followed our parents/grandparents to grocery shop before would be familiar with LinkPoints. Afterall, Plus! is the largest and most successful loyalty programme in Singapore with over 1.7 million members (!!!) and over 1000 participating outlets, both on and offline.
Since September last year, Plus! have re-branded itself and added 2 new shopping platforms- Plus! Gateway  and Plus! Marketplace where members can further shop on to add onto their LinkPoints, creating more value for all of us!

I had such an enjoyable time shopping on Plus! Gateway and here's why I think it's such a good platform that deserves to be shared.

There are 200 over global merchants you can find on Plus! Gateway, ranging from Sephora to Lazada, to Macy's, ASOS, Expedia, Jo Malone, NARS and more. So if you're a frequent shopper at these brands, you'll definitely want to find out how shopping with them VIA the Plus! Gateway platform can stretch your dollars spent and get the most out of it.

So here's how it works:
Firstly, you need to create an online account with Plus! at Plus.com.sg if you have an existing card, or apply online for one if you dont. This took me less than 5 minutes only!

Then, go over to the Categories Tab to view the list of merchants NTUC have partnered with. Click here for the full list of merchants available on Plus! Gateway.
Definitely drawn to Sephora first, duh.
So, click on Sephora.
You may choose to favorite the brand for easier future viewing, which I did because I'm hopeless HAHA
Before anything, do make sure to read the "Purchase Conditions" at the bottom of the page.
Once you click onto "Shop Now" you will get redirected to Sephora's official website immediately. Then shop as per normal! There isn't anything too troublesome about this entire process honestly, haha!
Now you guys can see what I purchased, I was super excited to be able to purchase all of these products via the Plus! Gateway platform because I would spend the same amount anyway if I were to buy it from Sephora's site/retail outlet directly.
But being an Online Plus! member meant that I get to have $1 = 1 LinkPoint members-only benefit.
As you can see, I earned 90 LinkPoints from this purchase!
Do make sure to enable cookies in your browser for LinkPoints to be credited.

Shortly after I checkout and paid for the order, I received a confirmation email from Plus! Gateway updating me on the pending LinkPoints I would be receiving.
YAY! So I know... You guys must be wondering..

What will I be able to do with these LinkPoints?
1. Rebates at participating retail stores and brands
2. Redeem travel and dining vouchers online, or;
3. Offset your purchases on Plus! Marketplace

With so many participating retail stores and brands under the Plus! umbrella, you can shop at Sephora for one day and have rebates not only on your grocery shopping at Fairprice supermarkets but other participating retailing stores too.
These LinkPoints are actually pretty useful and widely accepted.

So since you're paying the same prices as you would on the merchant's own site, why not enhance it with more LinkPoints collected? We're talking about maximising utility and stretching every dollar we spend, so that's a tip for you guys!

I received my Sephora parcel the next day in the mail and yippeeee, new make up to play with!
It is truly the best feeling in the world when you go home and see a parcel you've ordered waiting for you to be unwrapped. Hehe
So in love with Plus! Gateway because it is not only really easy to use, it also provides consumers like myself with more ways to enhance the value of shopping, as well as the entire shopping experience.

Why not right? We've got nothing to lose and everything to gain, haha!
You can sign up and find out more about Plus! Gateway here and speaking from experience, you'll probably not be able to contain your excitement once you see the list of brands under the list because you'll surely find something there!

You can now be one of the top 5 spenders of Plus! Gateway and win over $3000 worth of prizes on top of your LinkPoints!
Stand a chance to win an Ipad Pro, UE Boom Portable Bluetooth Speakers, Nescafe Coffee Machine and more.
Contest period: 1 March to 17 April 2016
All you have to do is shop as per detailed above to win!

Goodluck!

Romantic First Date Tutorial | Haul on Shoppee Mobile Marketplace

Hello everyone!
Here's the latest look I've been wearing for most of my events/dates and meetings. I love how it doesn't look too over the top, but yet soft and professional enough to turn up for in meetings. Although I'm wayyyy past my first date (Matt and I had our first date 4 years ago goodness), I wish I  had someone to advise me on my make up then because I definitely went WAY overboard 4 years ago to impress my date. Haha!

I'm bopping up and down while writing this post because I'm soooo happy I finally got hold of some of the beauty products I've been DYING to try for a long long time.
Brands like Memebox Korea, Pony Effect, ColourPop and more are not readily available in Singapore and I'm definitely guilty of trying to buy them off their official websites.
The downside? They take 1 month to reach me (if they are US brands) and the exorbitant shipping fees I had to pay which usually cost more than the item itself.
Worse still, I know that there are many brands that don't even ship to Singapore! There goes my dream of trying out the products everyone has been raving about.

Now, I can get hold of these brands SUPER easily, via the Shopee Mobile Marketplace App!

You can buy or sell as quickly as 30 seconds on the Shopee App
To sell products, simply create an account, snap a photo, set your prices and post it up! Or simply search for the item you're looking for in the search bar and purchase it directly from the seller.

Key in "ColourPop" and you'll get your results almost immediately.

Pony Effect is a make up brand that was created by Pony, a famous make up artist/ YouTuber from Korea. I've been a huge fan of her work and was super bummed that I couldn't get hold of her products in Singapore. The only way I could try her products was through friends who were visiting Korea and were nice enough to bring them back for me.

But now I can!!!! I've included links to the items I got via the Shopee App below, or in the video so check it out if you're interested!

Communicate with sellers real time via the Shopee Live Chat function. Ask questions, get the best deals and transact as soon as you can!
All payments are also protected with the Shopee Guarantee Feature with payment escrow, this means that funds will only be released to sellers when items have been received. This protects both sellers and buyers and we can now shop with ease on Shopee!

Left to right:
laneige bb cushion, whitening, cushion foundation
colorpop cosmetics, colorpop singapore, solow, ultra matte lip,
Here's what I bought to create the Romantic First Date Make Up Look that I featured on my YouTube Channel here.

The Shopee Mobile Marketplace App is FREE for both Android and Apple users. Download it here !
For more information and for the latest updates, be sure to follow Shopee Singapore on their Facebook Page here and their Instagram here.

There's now an exclusive code for my readers. Simply key in "MONGABONG"and be entitled to $5 OFF your purchases!

It was international women's day yesterday and there are so many good and inspiring content floating around social media because of that. I shared a piece of me during an interview I did with Montif , so you can head over to their blog to read more if you're not too sick of the whole IWD ordeal. Yet.

I'm exporting this post over from my Dayre because I feel that it's worth sharing to my blog readers too, hopefully it will help you like it did when I came across them.

So here are the 5 quotes that spoke to me:

1. Your circumstances don't define you. YOU define you
2. Who you used to be doesn't matter, it's who you are today that does
3. It's ok if you don't conquer everything today, you're still doing a good job
4. You're doing a better job than you're giving yourself credit for
5. Someone else's opinion is not your reality

Before & After: Xlash Eyelash Serum Review

$

Our eyelashes are important organs to our bodies as they prevent dust, sweat and other foreign particles from entering our eyes. Not only that, eyelashes make a huge difference to how one looks.
Having long, thick and luscious eyelashes "opens" our eyes and gives us an illusion of bigger, wider and more awake eyes.
Credits: Shesaidbeauty
Who wouldn't want that, right?

In order to achieve that, I've opted for volumizing and lengthening mascara everyday. On days when I'm feeling lazy, I'll go for semi-permanent eyelash extensions that can last up to 1.5 months.
While all these methods do allow me to achieve the longer, fuller lash look I want, studies have shown that continuous use of such methods can cause our natural eyelashes to weaken , break or even fall off.
While our natural eyelashes DO grow back after they have fallen off, they take a very long time and it is often a slow, painful process. I've read articles that even mentioned that some people take up to 6 months for their lashes to grow back. That's super long!
With that, I've been paying more attention to and researching more about the eyelash growing serums in the market.

I've long heard about Xlash, the No 1 best-selling eyelash growing serum in Europe and have always wanted to give it a go after seeing all the incredible reviews others have written about them online.
You can check them out here if you're interested, but prepare to be wow-ed!

The good news is, Xlash has finally hit the shores in Singapore and we can get our hands on them easily now!
For those that still have no clue to what I'm talking about, we can now have a safe, healthy alternative to grow our eyelashes, make them fuller and longer, NATURALLY!
Xlash is an eyelash growing serum that uses safe, natural and effective ingredients to provide guaranteed results if used appropriately.

I won't deny, I was indeed skeptical at first because... how can a company guarantee the results?
While I understood that different people will achieve different results, I didn't expect too much from it. But no harm trying it out since Xlash have very kindly sent me a tube, right?

So with that, I followed the instructions and (tried my best to) apply it on my lash line everyday for 2.5 months. There were of course, days when I forgot to apply or days when I stayed over at Matt's and I didn't bring the serum over with me.
But note that for this product to work to the fullest, you have to be very diligent and apply as consistently as possible for 2.5 months, due to the eyelash growth cycle.
The brush is very thin, and the serum is light and transparent. You won't feel a thing!
Even with very sensitive eyelids, I experienced no irritation nor side effects at all.

Simply apply it on the lash line every night, keeping as close to the root of the lashes as possible and that's it! Super easy haha.
I repeated it for about 2.5 months and here's the results I got:
It's amazing, isn't it?

My lashes have grown thicker, darker, longer and now there's even a slight curl to it!

P.S please pardon my unruly brows, we all have one-of-those-days we just wanna not care about that hahaha

To be honest, I never expected myself to achieve such drastic results just by using a product to enhance my lashes naturally. I now like to flaunt my natural lashes and have even received many compliments about how shocking it is to find out that I wasn't using falsies/extensions.

I have also noticed less fallouts significantly when I remove my mascara at the end of the day as well. That showed me that my lashes have also gotten stronger, which makes me so happy because I'm now losing less lashes than before.

Check out how they even have a natural curl to them now. I swear these aren't photoshopped/curled!
Beauty can be achieved if you're hardworking and diligent guys! Of course, with the right products that is.
I would highly recommend Xlash to anyone that face concerns with their eyelashes and want to have healthier, longer and nicer lashes in a easy, convenient and more importantly NATURAL way.
The results you see are real, even I am very impressed myself.
So here's sharing a little something with you guys!

I hope you guys enjoyed this little review of mine and found it helpful.

MAKE UP STARTER KIT FOR BEGINNERS

$
0
0
Many years ago when I first started experimenting with Make Up, I didn't have anyone to teach me or advise me on the products that are worth to buy.
Being a student at around 14, 15 years old, I didn't have much money. What I needed were affordable products that worked. And if you're wondering, no. Expensive high end make up products are not always better than the ones you find at drugstores.

Here are a few of my recommendations on how to build your own Make Up Starter Kit, I hope you guys find this useful!

Base
Maybelline White Super Fresh CC Cream - This CC Cream claims to cover, conceal and correct your skin tone. Maybelline has been one of my long-term favourite brands for their huge range of products that are not only pocket-friendly, they are also readily available. You can get it at your Watsons or Guardian super easily. I'm recommending this base for a light-medium all over slightly dewy coverage, and I found that it sets best with the next product i'm gonna be talking about, the Maybelline White Super Fresh Compact Powder.

Maybelline White Super Fresh Compact Powder - This compact powder can be used as a foundation itself, or as a setting powdr like how i would use it. Using a huge fluffy brush, swirl it around and tap off the excess before applying it all over in circular motions. I like this compact for its huge mirror, and I love how it keeps me matte, but not too flat throughout the day.

Face

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer / Clio Kill Cover Concealer I couldn't narrow it down to just one so I included both! One is Maybelline, yes again, and another is a korean brand, Clio. It depends on what kind of concealer you're looking for, and what you are looking to use it for. Concealer can be used for many different uses, brightening, concealing your under eyes, covering blemishes or zits etc. After trying out so many different brands, I would recommend Maybelline Instant Age Rewind for undereye concealing and brightening the whole face. Clio's Kill Cover Concealer on the other hand, is a VERY full coverage concealer that I would recommend for covering blemishes. Because of it's thicker texture, it wouldn't run around as much.

NYX Powdered Blush - I'm sure most of you have heard of the American brand, NYX. It's famous for bringing us really pigmented and good make up products at affordable prices. I've been a fan of NYX's powdered blushes for many years and they offer a wide range of shades for different occasions.

Lips
Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick - Lipsticks are the same, i'm a hoarder. But if I had to recommend, i'll recommend one of my favorite nude, MLBB shades. The Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in the shade Rose is perfect. With a really creamy and buttery texture, you can't go wrong. The only downside is that it doesn't last that well throughout the day, so bring it with you to touch up!

Eyes
Maybelline The Nudes Palette - A good starter for eyeshadow will be netural colors. A palette that encompasses colors that are suitable for everyday wear. But this palette offers more than that, and that's why I've been bringing this with me everywhere I go instead of some high end ones I own. This palette contain so many shades that you can have so many uses out of it as well! use the darker shades to fill in your brows, use the black as a softer eyeliner, or the light brown shade as a contour.

Kiss Me Heroine Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner - I loveeeee Heroine Make's eyeliner and have recommended it to so many of my friends and readers over these years. I love it for being so intensely black, and INCREDIBLY waterproof and smudge proof.  Another one I've been loving is the KATE Tokyo Memory Liner as well, they both are practically the same !

Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara - For some reason, I find that asian mascaras are a lot more effective on my short, asian lashes. This mascara contains little fibres that help extend and lengthen lashes, making them longer and fuller without bringing too much clumps. This is also very waterproof, almost irritating to remove. But it can be a good or bad thing, depending on how you see it!

Yay, that's it from me! I hope you guys enjoy this post and found it useful.
For all of you just starting out with make up, practise makes perfect! Don't give up and you're definitely get the hang of it in no time.

Love,

Empowering Women to Embrace our periods with Laurier

$

0
Hello guys, today we'll be touching a rather interesting topic, so brace yourself because we will be talking about our PERIODS!
Yes, there's nothing to feel shy or awkward about. Every women goes through this and it is a large part of our lives. Some see it as a friend that visit every month, others see it as a plague and try all ways to cover it up. I'm sure all of you have been there, complained about "the time of the month" over and over again. Sulking because of how "troublesome" and "uncomfortable" it is to restrict our wardrobes just to avoid an embarrassing visible pad lines/leakage situation.

The funny thing is, we go through our periods every single month, so why don't we embrace it instead?

Laurier is a brand I grew up with, and I was introduced to their sanitary pads the moment I got my first period when I was 14. I've never looked back since. So imagine how elated I was to find out that I would be working with one of the brands I've been using for the past 9 years?!
Not only myself, my sisters have been using their sanitary pads over these years as well and you'll be surprised at how many packets we have stocked up in our "all-girls-only" toilet.

My favourite from the brand is the Laurier Super Slimguard Range, where they offer 5 different lengths of super slim sanitary pads for different uses. I love the Super Slimguard pads because they are so so thin at only 1mm, they are also super comfortable, soft and commands up to 200x absorbency rate!
They make periods so much better and easier to handle because I am never bogged down by what I can, or can't wear. Leakages are also a thing of the past with these super absorbent, body hugging pads!
I don't think this is a brand that requires much selling, honestly. Give it a try and you will be sold, like how I did 9 years ago.

While leakages and comfort is important, the bigger problem I feel that plagues most of us is insecurity. Being on our periods make us insecure and takes away our confidence. But it doesn't have to be this way!
Embrace your bodies, let loose and do a crazy dance like I did, or join everyone else in Day 7's Challenge, taking selfies without any make up on because it's important to remember to love yourself and your embrace natural beauty from time to time.

Join the Laurier 7-Day Challenge alongside me, where I’ve partnered with the amazing people behind Laurier to encourage and empower you guys to overcome your insecurities (not just during periods!), while we DEBUNK all of the period myths you have at the same time!
Not only can you redeem instant prizes for joining in the fun, you actually get to do your part by raising funds for charity. Laurier will be donating $20* for each person that successfully completes the Laurier 7-day challenge to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

This is a super fun and meaningful challenge that I feel should be shared, so gather all your friends, have some fun and more importantly, I hope that this challenge can help all of you that are struggling with insecurities feel better about your own body!

Here are some of my entries for the Laurier 7-Day Challenge. Don't judge me and have a good laugh!
Day 3. Let loose and take a 5s video of yourself doing a crazy dance

I never knew that letting loose actually feels THIS refreshing and fun. You can try it too!
Day 4. Nothing should hold you back from being active, even on period days. Take a snap of you doing a jump shot

So here you go, a happy jumpshot that I realise I hardly do. But boy, don't I look happy!
Day 6. Is it true that whenever we get our period, wearing anything light colored or tight is a big no-no?
Well, although it is true that some of us are more conscious about our choices of outfits when we are having our periods, it doesn't have to be the case because you can simply choose the ultra slim napkin with super absorbency like Laurier Super Slimguard.
It's 1mm thickness and 200x ultra absorbency will allow you to wear anything you want, and that's how I usually go about my day wearing the outfits I want for shoots and events, even on my period!
So if you ask me, YES GO FOR IT!

Day 7. Embrace your natural beauty. Let it shine through and share your no make up selfie with us!
I know many of us, including myself are not born with perfect skin, but what's most important is that we are not afraid to work hard at it, and show it.
The bigger the selfie, the more imperfections and the more perfect it is!

Now what else is stopping you from being empowered!

Check out the Laurier 7-Day Challenge page to find out more, and don't forget to follow Laurier SG on their Facebook page for more updates and fun stuff coming up!

Guide to Cha-Am, Thailand

$

This post is super overdue and I'm really really sorry for not reviewing Cha Am earlier before a lot of you guys went ahead with it. In short, if you asked me... I wouldn't recommend Cha Am to anyone else but people who enjoy golf, to take photos (but super limited also), or people that enjoy having absolutely nothing to do.

Nevertheless, Matt and I enjoyed our time there because at least we got some pictures!

Getting there
Cha Am, is a town situated outside Bangkok. You can either take a bus from Talling Chan, Bangkok's South Bus terminal, take a cab (around 3000 THB or more), or drive at your own risk.
I've heard that the roads and highways in Bangkok are super dangerous, and just FYI, Bangkok's roads are 2nd in the list for the the highest accident rate :/ So I wouldn't recommend the option.

We woke up bright and early to get to Talling Chan (around 1 hour from the city centre) to catch a 3.5 hour coach ride to Cha Am. Tickets are cheap at only around 150THB per pax, if im not wrong, and very comfortable.

The bus however, will drop you in the middle of nowhere. There's only a family mart in front, and a small table where you can find taxi drivers. You will need them to get you to your accommodation because there's simply no way to get around Cha Am.
They have no metros or public transport whatsoever. And if you're hoping that the taxis over there operate by meter, you can wait long because they wont.
I was shocked when the taxi drivers quoted me 500THB for a 10 min drive STRAIGHT DOWN the road. I'm like ?! 500 THB you must be kidding. I got a laugh in my face by that nasty taxi driver and her fellow taxi driver colleagues laughed along. They shook their heads at me and proceeded to return to their seats, knowing I have NO CHOICE but to go to them sooner or later.

I haggled to the best I could and time was running out. I needed to meet my airbnb host, and grab the car I rented, which was again, impossible to get to without a car/taxi. Lots of $$$ blown right there, just trying to settle in for our 2-days trip. That left me so frustrated because not only did I waste so much time and money getting to Cha Am, I wasted lots of timeeeee and the people were all so mean OMG. LOL

But anyway, like I said, Matt and I still enjoyed Cha Am because we managed to capture some really nice photos to share with you guys.
The main reason why I wanted to visit Cha Am was because of the Santorini Park in Cha Am after seeing photos online. As all of you know, Santorini, Greece (the real one) still remains as the BEST trip I've ever been on, and I thought that since I won't be visiting Greece anytime soon, I could at least have a taste of it nearer to home in Thailand.

Entrance is priced around 200THB , if i'm not wrong which is not exactly expensive.
In there, you will find rows of shops and architecture modelled after Santorini in Greece.
It was super empty though, and almost 60% of the shops have closed down. Yes, not closed, but like died off, which is really sad looking. But I guess with a place like this with absolutely nothing to do, it's hard to keep the tourists coming and this place alive.
things to do in cha am, santorini water park
The empty park made it easy for photos, which was a plus to me!
I was wearing a Topazette piece which you can find on backorder here.

Dress: Topazette
Bag: Charles and Keith

I loveeee this dress because it's made of super premium quality and it is so flattering on the body.
Featuring an off shoulder top which opens to a circle cut at the bottom, you can surely hide that tummy in this, especially after some fish n' chips like I did ><

Other than food and some shopping, you will find some theme park rides that are almost never operating because nobody is willing to pay extra to get on those rides.
But here's a gorgeous carousel that was so pretty :)
I then switched up my outfit before nightfall as we were going to head off for dinner.
To be very honest, I wouldn't even recommend the Santorini Park because we were literally walking in circles just talking and shooting. I can't imagine what normal tourists would do, they must be so so so bored!
The surroundings are actually very beautiful, but just... boring with nothing to do afterawhile.
After all, one can only get fascinated by the same kind of things you see for like 1 to 2 hours?

Cha-am District, Thailand

Then off to Alpaca Restaurant, Cha-Am !!!
This place was unplanned for because it didn't come up as a search result when we googled for "Food in Cha Am" Instead, we drove past it in the day and saw that the place looked pretty, so we decided to check it out that night.
Greeted by so many Alpacas just roaming about in their pen right at the restaurant!
I think there were about 10 of them, all super cute and greedy. You can just go up to take as many photos as you like, or purchase some fresh carrots for 50THB to feed them. The good thing about the Alpaca restaurant is that they service a lot of eurasian tourists, so they speak really good english and their service was (for once in Cha Am) really good.

The waiter helped us with this photo and even offered to take more!
Once nightfall came, the entire area lit up in fairy lights. It was such a romantic atmosphere and I was glad I decided to change into a gorgeous maxi dress for the occasion.
I was wearing the Premium Liz Maxi in Black that features really soft and elegant crochet detailing at the top, and an outer chiffon maxi skirt layer. I love how it has a slit that makes walking so much easier too.
Overall, I loved the Alpaca restaurant for its atmosphere and cute alpacas. It was something different that I didn't expect myself to be able to experience, really. But if you ask me if I would travel down to Cha Am just to see them? I would say no.
Alpaca Restaurant, Cha Am
Petchaburi, Thailand

It would be almost silly to, actually. The journey, 3.5 hours there and another 3.5 hours back, not including almost spending around 1000 THB for 2 to get around and another SGD$120 for car rental...
On top of that, there are no shopping malls, no supper places, massage parlours are pretty ulu and quite difficult to find unlike Bangkok.

So this is just to share with you guys a very short summary on how my trip to Cha Am went down!

If you're interested in getting the outfits I featured here, you can check out www. topazette.com and cart out with "mongtpz" for 10% off your bill.

Hope you guys enjoyed it!

Hello everyone!! I feel like it's been so long since I last dropped in with a fashion post, so here are some of the outfits I wore recently.
I picked 3 separate outfits, and tried to style them as differently as possible so as to show you guys how to dress up, down or comfy with very simple, everyday pieces.

Today i'll be showing you guys the pieces from Topazette , which i'm sure you guys are all already familiar with. They remain as one of the brands, if not, the longest, brand that I have worked with.
Looking back.. it has been close to 3 years since I started working with them and I am so honored and proud to see how Topazette has evolved over the years. Not only in terms of the range of clothing they stock, but also on their wearability.

So if you're interested in the pieces I'm showing in this post, stay tuned to the end of the post for some very useful DISCOUNT CODES!
The first outfit features something really fun, roomy and comfy.
I would choose this for a day at school, because it's so fuss free and comfortable. Throw on a parka and I'm ready to take on the AC in the lecture theatre.
Not forgetting, the super softtttt and furry Soft Fluffy Top that is so soft, non-scratchy and so comfortable that it reminds me of my blanket.
The second outfit features an all time classic ensemble - a white top with a pair of good jeggings.
I can't stress enough on the importance of a good pair of jeggings with a good cut. We all know how having bottoms with a flattering cut can make or break our outfit, and sometimes even our body shape.
This one from Topazette wow-ed me the moment I put it on, I didn't want to take it off at all, really! Somehow it makes my legs look much slimmer and longer than they are, I swear. Its not me, it's the pants haha.
And lastly, a less casual, work ensemble. I'm sure my love for midi dresses are of no surprise to all of you here who has been following me for awhile now. My style is so predictable, i'm sorry, but I simply can't deviate from the all time classic pieces because I know i'm gonna get more wears out of them.
Here, I'm wearing the Strut Your Stuff Midi in Black , a cotton jersey dress that features cut out details at the side. I usually gravitate toward dresses like this because it gives an illusion of a slimmer waist, and of course, more edge to the entire outfit.
It being plain black also allows me to jazz it up with my accessories, which I attempted something more spring appropriate - a little red bag.
A nice pop of color like this instantly brightens up the entire look doesn't it?
Choose from 5 different colors! And if you're looking for a touch of spring in your wardrobe, go for the fuchsia one!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and as usual! If you like these pieces, you can get them, or anything on topazette's site with the code "mongtpz" for 10% off.

Thank you Topazette for dressing me, as always

Hello guys!
I'm sorry for the lack of updates recently, but it's the time of the semester again where you suddenly realize that mongabong is posting and updating less. But this time, it's different.
It's my final semester, literally the final lap. Albeit jaded, burnt out, I gotta press on.
This semester has been such an amazing transition from being a student to focusing on my career. And i've been blessed with the most wonderful and understanding group mates that expressed their understanding and consent when I needed to miss some group discussions and meetings due to my work commitments this semester. We all need people like that in our lives in order to become better, don't we? haha

Also, I recently found out that many of my non-believer friends are now starting to attend church, so all is good and merry. Praise God!

I'll definitely still be posting and updating my snapchat and Instagram (because i cant go a day without it haha) so do follow me on there!

Oh and I've also got some really exciting trips planned ahead of me, so i'm super duper duper happy and thrilled to finally be able to jet off to somewhere else. A change of environment is always good for the mind, and creativity. So here are some of the places I'll be visiting, if you're a brand or know anyone that would be interested to work together, or meet up over coffee (yay), let me know!

- Mid April:  Philippines, Davao
- Mid May: Melbourne, Australia
- Whole of August: London, UK , Europe

I'll be so happy if you guys can leave me with some recommendations. Food, photo, places, attractions etc will be good!

Meanwhile, stay happy and healthy you guys. I'll check back whenever I can, and I promise I wont be gone for too long

Seoul Sensation by Pizza Hut

Hello everyone! Today's post is a really exciting one because it incorporates 2 of my favourite things... PIZZA and KOREAN !

Remember this photo I posted on my Instagram earlier?
korean girl, mong ,mongchin,

You hardly get to see me being all cute-sy but all the korean girls are so pretty and cute I just had to.
Cute and sweet, just like their new Seoul Sensation Menu!
I'm nowhere near how cute these Pizza Hut's Koreans look, but I tried! Hahaha look at the ribbons

If you guys follow me, especially on snapchat, you will know that my family, matt and > <
I always have Pizza for our meals. It's one of the things I don't think i can ever get sick of, considering the endless of combinations and flavours one can come up with.

Now, where's the Korean part you must be wondering... It's none other than the special, and super yummy Korean seasoning and sauces!
If you've been an ardent fan of the latest Korean wave of KPOP, Korean Chicken, Korean Food, everything KOREAN then you will love the new Pizza Hut Seoul Sensation Menu.
east point, pizza hut, seoul pizza menu, pizzahut
The Seoul Sensation Menu has new creations such as Seoul Sensation Pizza, Spicy Chikin Pasta, Yuja Chamkkae Wings, and Mango Pudding with Ice Cream (not pictured)

First up, the star of the show and also my personal favourite of the lot, the Seoul Sensation Pizza ($18.20 for regular, $24.50 large)

Cheese lovers like myself can top up $5.90 for Pizza Hut's famous Stuffed Crust, you guys have to do it, it's so yummy! You will get a super cheesy, fragrant and hearty meal. I loveeeee Pizza Hut's stuffed crust pizzas because they are not too over-powering and I love the texture of the cheeses inside. Chewy, stringy with a light & fluffy cheese flavour.

We had both the Stuffed Crust and Hand Stretched Thin Pizza, and both were SO GOOD.
This pizza was inspired by the rich flavours of Korea, with their famous spicy marinated chicken chunks, mushrooms, capsicums, onions and juicy pineapples topped with roasted seaweed and sesame seeds. Topped with just the right amount of Yang Nyum sauce, the sauce you find in Korean Fried Chicken, that is both sweet and mildly spicy.

I love Pizza Hut for their generous toppings on their pizzas, and this was no exception.
Chicken chunks were cooked to perfection - they were tender, soft but retained their bounce.
The roasted sesame and seaweed added some smoky, fragrant flavours to the entire dish.

Then, we had the Spicy Chikin Pasta, $11.90
pizza hut, pasta, spaghetti, review, spicy chikin pasta
Anyone else diggin' the "chikin" in this dish? Kuddos to the team for picking that trait out of the cute koreans, I've always found that way of pronouncing "chicken" super cute!
Try repeating it and you'll be hooked hahaha

The Spicy Chikin Pasta is not thaaaat spicy, so if you don't take chilli well, don't be put off by the name of it.
It's more of a sweet, tangy kind of spicy, and I would rate the level 1/10 on the spicy meter :)
This pasta was also cooked in Yang Nyum sauce, and incorporates those super juicy and yummy chicken chunks and mushrooms in there. If you're not looking to have Pizza, then try this!

Another one of my favourites on the menu, Yuja Chamkkae Wings
$7.50 for 6 pieces, $9.90 for 10 pieces
yuja chicken, yujucha, chamkkae, korean fried chicken, pizza hut, review
I grew up having (and loving) Pizza Hut's wings and I'm so glad this flavour came :)
If you've tried the wings from Pizza Hut before, you will know that they are all baked and marinated with their savoury marinates. Each of them are juicy and flavourful and you'll not be able to resist having a second serving.

"Yuja" is the short form of "Yujacha", commonly known as Yuzu in Singapore, whereas "Chamkkae" represents the oriental flavour that these mid-joints are coated with.
We wiped this out in just a few minutes!
And very surprisingly , the Yuja taste is pretty mild in the dish. It just melts into a really fragrant, sweet and tantalizing flavour that you wouldn't get sick of.
I'll recommend getting this as a side to share simply because you shouldn't give this a miss :)
So here it is, the meal that made us hobbling home because we were so full and so well-fed.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining one bit because who doesn't love good food eh?

Spring Fashion at Marina Square

YAYASSSS, Spring is here! So that means... more excuses to switch up my clothes, and fill my wardrobe with really pretty colours. I realised my wardrobe starts becoming more dull towards the end of the year, it's only during summer and spring that I get to introduce brighter and happier pieces.

This means... more shopping!
Alot of you guys asked me where I usually do my shopping. While I shop online sometimes, I do like to go down to the conventional brick and mortar retail shops to get my hands on the pieces. Afterall, that's the best way to make sure i'm getting what I want, of the right material and right fit. Yes?

I'll usually choose malls that have a wide range of food and fashion stores because that gives me a lot more choices and nobody complains about having too much to choose from right?
Because I'm always around City Hall a lot, Marina Square has been my go-to shopping mall. Not only for food and desserts, but also clothes and accessories!

I visited 6 different fashion stores to check out their latest spring collections. But if you guys have the time to, be sure to comb the entire mall because there are lots of rewards to be won if you spend from the 8th April to 30th April 2016. More details on rewards can be found here.

1. PROMOD

First up, Promod - I've always noticed this brand for their really casual and laidback, bohemian vibe pieces. But for some reason, I never owned any pieces from them before.
But lo and behold, what drew me in was this gorgeous saddle purse that caught my attention immediately. Look at how cute it is, the right size, the shape and even right down to the braid details. Much much love!
I then decided to pair my outfit around this gorgeous item. Because Promod is a brand that carries really laid back, comfy, everyday pieces, I decided to go with a pair of super soft ribbed jeans for this look.
Another item that I couldn't pass were these loafers. Khaki green? Yes, that's calling out to me!
Khaki with some leather details? JUST COME TO MAMA ALREADY
Here you go, a way you can still keep your jeans in your closet for a little longer. Simply roll the bottom like I did for a more slack vibe, accessorize with things that are bright like this saddle bag in a light brown shade. A soft, flowy printed top will complete the chill look you're going for.
Promod is located at #02-153 / 154 in Marina Square

2. NOMINATION ITALY

Next up, we got some accessories too!
Nomination Italy is conveniently situated right outside Zara, so you wont miss it for sure.
Accessories are crucial to an entire look, i'm sure you guys already know that. I love styling my outfits with easy to match pieces, and here are some new arrivals from their spring collection that I couldn't bear to leave without.
The Angel Necklace, LOOK HOW DAINTY it is?!
Apart from the angel necklaces, I also checked out Nomination Italy's classic, the composable bracelet. With the composable bracelet, you can put together charms that tell your story. Be it symbols, words, or designs, you can piece them together to make it your own.
Nomination Italy, #02-191 at Marina Square

Now if you're a fan of Nomination Italy, you can participate in this really simple Instagram Photo contest and one winner will walk away with $500 voucher, while 5 others will bag home $100 vouchers each!
All you have to do is post on Instagram, a photo of your favourite Nomination Italy Bracelet, tag @marinasquaresg and #nominationitaly and you're on the road to winning!
This contest ends on 30th April, 2016 1159PM so do send in your entries by then.

3. ZARA

Afterwards, we moved into ZARA that was situated just next to Nomination Italy.
ZARA houses everything I love in clothes. Like literally. I was squealing while walking through the outlet because I simply couldn't contain myself. How I wish I had the budget to buy everything :')
ZARA's Spring collections feature lots of colors, floral prints and generally more girly trends. But of course, not losing the usual cool, minimal ZARA vibe everyone's crazy about.
I picked out this Floral Bomber Jacket to be the centre piece of this look. It consists of big floral patterns, baby pink fabric and is super duper comfy.
Because of the baby pink hues, I decided to match it with a pair of white tailored shorts, cream belt and baby pink strappy heels.

Easy, quick and put together in just 5 mins!
The ZARA at Marina Square is also pretty huge, so check it out at #02-118 to 120, 112 to 126

4. THE JUBA CO.

The Juba Co is also another brand I wasn't familiar with, but am so glad I managed to visit because they wowed me with their rustic and vintage designs. They even have a corner in the shop that mimics the rustic mood from the 80s. Super intricately decorated, girly and feminine.

While going girl-y isn't what i'm normally used to, I was drawn to this really pretty denim piece that was shown to me by the helpful staffs. I've been seeing denim all over the magazines lately so I know denim is going to be a huge trend this year, and instead of the usual denim jeans and jackets, I love how The JUBA Company has it in their own girly flavors - a denim dress.
This dress features a subtle statement, a gold zip that runs from the top to the bottom of the dress. The fact that it is gold with a tinge of rustic brassy color is already enough to steal my heart.
But when I put it on, I knew that was the one I wanted to feature in this post. It is not only minimalistic and romantic at the same time, it also fitted really well.
Accessorizing was a breeze with so many accessories to choose from. I decided to go with a simple bangle with some gold accents to match the gold zip on my dress.
The Juba Co. #02-304/304A

5. Sans & Sans

After visiting Sans & Sans, I am now convinced that I have one more shop to go to whenever I'm looking for any work appropriate outfits. Wearing their pieces made me miss reporting to work in working clothes LOL. Clearly, I'm obsessed with dressing up here, haha. But seriously though, Sans & Sans carry really gorgeous pieces like this one that I wore.
A slightly khaki cream top with an interesting military touch to it.
Sans & Sans' new spring collection features designs that are a result of mixing 2 very different cultures together - oriental and western styles.
So you can see, the necklace I was wearing has 2 golden tassels at the end that reminds me a lot of the Chinese tassels we see a lot on lanterns and the traditional Chinese costumes.
And the top features a boxy frame, and golden buttoned belt that also mimics the Chinese military costume.
Sans & Sans, #02-342/343

6. Desigual

Now, how can we miss out the most colourful store... ever?
Seriously though, if you asked me to think of any other stores that love colours, spring and summer more than Desigual, I honestly can't think of any others.
Stepping into Desigual always make me feel as if I stepped into an another world. It's so mysterious, tribal, yet happy and loud. Check out their designs and you will know what Im talking about, haha.
Surprisingly though, I found a dress from their newest collection that wasn't as loud as their usual designs, so if you've always wanted to look for something more muted and simple from Desigual, pleaseee check out their latest range because they've got some really good pieces there!

I picked this lace dress for myself that was so girly and feminine, which provided a really good canvas to go with their signature printed bags.
Come to think of it, doesn't brands like this make you really happy?
I feel happy just by looking at all these colours! I thought it's really amazing how even though we might think that having so many colours and prints together can be a little clash-y, it actually all falls very well together.

Desigual, Marina Square Mall, #02-110

So there you go guys! My take on the latest trends and how I would style them, according to the different styles. Now, another reason apart from the convenience of having all your favourite shops within a few steps away, the pros of shopping at Marina Square also includes the Shopping REWARDS the mall is offering to their shoppers!

Not just 1, but 3 different shopping rewards!

1. Win A Timepiece

Stand to win a RAYMOND WEIL Maestro Automatic Moon Phase worth $ 3,610 with a minimum spend of $50* at any fashion/beauty outlet. Now till 30 April 2016.

Fitness fashion - My Go-to Workout Wear

$

My go-to workout wear brand needs no further introduction, i'm sure you guys are already sick of me raving about Vivreactivewear right? Refer to the first post I did with them here, where I shared my workout routine and the videos I often use when working out.
Well. Today's post is to inform you guys that you can now find Vivreactivewear not only online, but also at their newest retail outlet at Bugis Junction!

This gives all of you a reason to head down now since it is so conveniently located in Bugis!
2 weeks ago, I got to check out their store and was so pleased that I could feel every fabric and even try on the pieces before deciding which to purchase. yay to better fit, and a happier shopper!

Here's what I wore on 3 separate workout sessions:
I love the Ambition Crop Topfor it's cropped length. It's in between a workout shirt and a sports bra which doesn't show too much, if you're looking for something a little more conservative.
The Danseuse Performance Tights are also my favourite ones to date! Who knew workout clothes could be so trendy too?
For an early morning light cardio and stretching at home, I chose to wear the Frolic Active Tank after seeing the ladyboss wear it at the retail outlet. It looked so much like an everday top and can be doubled up as a casual, yet nicely fitted tank. You can totally hop out from the gym, head for coffee or an appointment with this, really!
I also loveeee my striking red Yoga mat because it not only gives me the right amount of support when working out, it is super beautiful and vibrant and lightweight which is really portable. All you have to do is roll it up properly and fit it in the netted bag that comes with it and you're set to go.
Exercise Mat: Eco Friendly Yoga Mat

The third outfit features the outfit I wore the last time I was in Thailand for a work trip. I'm not usually the kind to go for really loud colors or prints, so I'm very happy that VivreActiveWear has tights not only in the usual basic colors, but also subtle, printed ones like the Dynamic Active Crops that I've featured in the last look below.
Now that makes me less boring, hehe.

I love VivreActiveWear for their pieces that are not only made of really premium quality, they are stylish, forward and really convenient!
If you guys haven't tried their tops out, I would highly recommend you guys to because their built-in bra designs are to-die-for. Not only do you not have to worry about wearing another sports bra inside, you also get the right amount of support your buddies need!

Flash this post at the store  or cart out with "mongabong" for 5% off your purchase!
Valid till 15th May 2016.

Are you ready to work out yet? I don't know about you but every time I browse through Vivreactivewear's site I get so motivated to work out and be fit LOL.

I'll join you guys after my last paper on saturday, hahaha till then!

New hair : Balayage by Salon Vim

$

You guys have probably seen my new hair because I couldn't contain my excitement (again) on Instagram. But yay i've finally decided to take the leap of faith to do a little more bleaching this time!
I've always been afraid to put too much bleach into my hair because it's already so brittle and damaged from all the styling and all. But when I saw a photo of a similar hair style on pinterest, I knew I had to.
I spoke to my stylist, Jay from Salon Vim Bugis about it and he said that it is possible to achieve the style I wanted and he told me not to worry because I didn't have to bleach my whole head to get the texture and style I wanted.

So here's what I left with, ultra soft, smooth hair in the most gorgeous shade. I love it to bits!
However though, you can't ask me what color it is because it had been planned out and specially mixed by my hairstylist to create this gorgeous balayage hairjob.
It looks a little grey, green, ash, brown and sometimes even violet in different lighting, and that's how I love it. That's how Jay exceeds my expectations every single time.
I also did a Nano Mist Collagen Hair Treatment to strengthen my hair and of course, repair it because beauty comes at a cost. But there's nothing hair treatments at Salon Vim cant fix - they are so effective and super pampering :)

Also did a scalp ritual for my super angry scalp which helps a lot with the amount of buildup and dryness everytime I visit the salon for it. The amount of dry shampoo and the stress + skin condition I have certainly doesnt help.., hahah. But one thing for sure, the health of my scalp has improved heaps and bounds since I started scalp treatments with Salon Vim. So looking forward to the day I don't have to depend on the treatments anymore for healthy, flake-less scalp.

You know what to do, quote my name at the counter for 15% off!

Also, look for Jay if you want my hair color because only he knows what he mixed in it. Its a secret he says, LOL

泰好吃 Thai Hao Chi Mookata Review

Thai Hao Chi Mookata, Review, Singapore, Upper Thompson
A few weeks back, I visited Thai Hao Chi Mookata with my family and that sparked me to write this review. As you guys know, I'm a big foodie and while my vocabulary to describe food is limited, I will try my best to consolidate all of our reviews that night into this one post. And hopefully, do Thai Hao Chi Mookata some justice haha!

Firstly if you have no patience to read till the end, i'm just gonna tell you that I LOVED IT and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking them out if you're on the lookout for a good, comforting mookata in Singapore at friendly prices.

Thai Hao Chi Mookata, Review, Singapore, Upper Thompson
Best Mookata in Singapore, Upper Thompson
Located at 908 Upper Thomson Road, S(787111), you can easily spot the space from far with its light ensemble that spells the product they are very proud of - Mookata

Kudos to the really cute and pun-y name too! For my non-chinese readers, Thai Hao Chi translate to

泰好吃/太好吃 which means "super delicious"

A lot of you guys mentioned that there are 2 Mookata outlets in Upper Thomson, so here's a clearer distinction in case you guys want to visit Thai Hao Chi - Thai Hao Chi Mookata is located at Springleaf, notthe other one located next to Salted Caramel and Udders. I personally prefer Thai Hao Chi more!
I think food like Mookata really is very appropriate for gatherings and big groups because there's just a sense of togetherness, and reunion... you know?
I'm so glad I brought my family & sarah there because we all enjoyed it so much and unanimously agreed that this place was the best mookata we've had in Singapore.

The standard Mookata Set comes with an assortment of seafood and meat platter - Prawns, squid, sausage, chicken, pork, pork belly, crab sticks, pig's liver, meatballs
As well as a basket of vegetables & noodles.
For $39.90, this can feed 2-3 pax which is SUPER worth it. Imagine only paying $13 for this much food! And if you're a group of 4 girls that are small eaters, I think this would be sufficient as well.

Best Mookata in Singapore, Upper Thompson, review, hotpot, singapore, Thai Hao Chi Mookata,
What I loved about the food was the really tasty soup broth. To me, there are a few things that need to be checked before you can call it a good mookata.
1. Soup base - This was so tasty, I drank it as a soup before i even added the ingredients in to cook! I also heard that their soup bases are FREE of MSG and had been simmered for long hours before serving, and hence the good flavor.
2. Marinated Meat - It was to my surprise that despite having so many choices of meat, each one of them were marinated super well. My favourite would be the marinated chicken that was so tender, and the marinated beef that we ordered on the side.
Thai Hao Chi Mookata is also very famous for their Thai Styled Abalone, which my parents loved very much. Oh, and how can I forget the huge jug of Thai Iced Milk Tea???

Because Chaa Yen FTW, LOL! This jug was only $2.80 and it was much much better than the average ones i've tried in singapore. For half the price even, whutttt.
My family and I had such a great time at 泰好吃 Thai Hao Chi Mookata and it was what inspired me to write this post. I realise I hardly do reviews on food nowadays, so here's to sharing on a topic I am very passionate about once again, food!

How I Pair Gold & Silver Accessories

Hey guys! Today, we're talking all about accessories.
You guys know how much I love my basics, and like i've shared a gazillion times, the reason why I love my basics is because they are more timeless, and i can create new looks with just the use of different accessories.

So you can imagine, how important accessories are to me!
Elitrend is a brand I literally grew up with, back in the days when only retail shops existed, I depended a lot on Elitrend for my accessories and would definitely walk into the shop whenever I passed by it at Parkway parade and Tampines Mall.
Do you guys remember this brand? I never thought I would be able to work with a brand that was so close to my heart today, and that makes me even more proud to be collaborating with them on this post.

As usual, I picked 4 different items to feature, 2 golds and 2 silvers. I wanted to show you guys how i would pair them using the same outfit, so here it is!
The general trend I always follow is to be consistent with the colours. If you're wearing a gold bangle, go with a gold necklace. That way, it will never be wrong!
But of course, you don't necessarily have to stick to this rule for everything , I didn't make sure to match tiny details like my earrings in this outfit either and it all worked out well.

Featured in this are: Minimalist Knot Bangle ($12.90) and Triangle V Marble Necklace in Gold ($12.90), both accessories come in silver as well.

Now let's talk about silver.
I paired this daintyDouble Heart Necklace ($9.90) on my white top, and a pair of simple Hexagon Cut Out Earrings ($9.90) for a clean, minimalist look.
I feel that this combination can look good in almost everything, and anything sparkly makes the world go round right? hahaha
I'm amazed by the variety, quality and price of all these accessories! You can get almost anything under $20 at their site, so check it out when you can.

Hope you guys like this post. Have a good week ahead ya'll.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette Review

sephora, singapore, hourglass cosmetics, ambient lighting palette, review

I'm sure you guys have already heard of the damage... yes. $97 on this little baby of mine. Oh you guys don't know the dilemma I was faced with as I stood before the Hourglass shelf at Sephora Ion Orchard.
This is by far, the most expensive make up item I have ever purchased. Almost a hundred bucks for a little trio of ambient lighting powders from Hourglass, you can already tell that I spend hours watching Youtube beauty gurus everyday. HAHA

So here's an in-depth review for you guys if you're interested to try this out.

Packaging

So starting with the basic, packaging. The Hourglass products all have this sturdy, luxurious packaging that come in reflective forms. At least for their powders, that is.
I love how the packaging feels, and this palette is pretty slim and sleek too. The only downside is that it's definitely not finger-print friendly, and you are bound to get your eeky fingerprints on them, tainting the reflective package.

There is also a large mirror that is a plus for touch ups

Product

The ambient lighting powders are what everyone described them to be. Soft, creamy, super fine and just really really luxurious. I think the texture is the epitome of #goals lol. Pardon me if i used the hashtag inappropriately, people cannot keep up with times haha.

I personally love Dim Light the most, because it has the least shimmer in it. Personally for my highlight, I love something with a good BAM, like the Mary Loumanizer Highlighter from The Balm. So when I tried out these powders from Hourglass, I was a little disappointed to find that the powders were a lot more sheer than the normal highlight powders in the market.

However, these ambient lighting powders are not meant to be highlighters. Hourglass has their Strobing Powders for that use. I love the ambient lighting powders for that SOFT, ETHEREAL, glow. It's almost like it's lit from within!
This is the first time I'm using a powder that cant be picked up with your naked eye. It just blends and sits on your skin so beautifully, exuding a soft, natural beam from your face, making it so much softer and smoother. I also noticed that these powders do not accentuate your large pores or blemishes unlike many other highlighting products in the market. It doesn't cake either, so I've been enjoying applying Dim Light all over my face, Incandescent Light on the high points of my face and Radiant Light on my temples and cheekbones for that sun-kissed glow.

Pros

  1. Super soft, fine and high end quality powders
  2. Very natural, lit from within look
  3. Does not accentuate pores, and blemishes. Instead provides a soft, smooth canvas that looks like second skin
  4. Packaging is sleek and mirror is included

Cons

  1. Price of the palette (DUH)
  2. Not mattifying, so you have to make sure to blot and touch up if you've got oily skin
  3. No brush included, which makes it troublesome to touch up
  4. Lasting power is only around 4 hours, which is quite short imo

Final Thoughts

Overall, I'm super happy that I caved in and bought it! I just try not to think about how much it costs hahaha because with this money I can buy 3.5x Mary Loumanizer Highlighting palette :( But well, I guess the biggest question would be "Is it worth $97?" I would say it depends.

If you have the budget and can spare a hundred bucks without hesitating, then yes get it
If you are VERY into the natural, glow from within look, then yes, get it because there ain't other products that can do the same thing, so chances of finding a dupe is extremely low.

However,
If you're on a lookout for a highlighter to do your everyday strobing, highlight on cheekbones look etc, then I wouldn't recommend this palette as it doesn't provide highlights that are intense enough. I would definitely recommend checking out the Mary Loumainzer I've been talking about, from The Balm, or even the Shimmering Powders from BECCA instead that are much cheaper. Even Loreal makes good highlight shades too!

If you have no budget, then forget it because you can do without it. The difference is not thatttt bizarre and incredible for you to skip meals just to purchase it ><

Hope this helps!
