What Valentine's Day Means to Me + Vday Gift Idea!

$

Today i'm gonna share a little thoughtpost and bring you guys along with me as I walk down memory lane and look back on the past few Valentine's Days with Matt.

What Valentine's Day is to me?

To be honest, I used to be that typical girl that always wished for a prince charming to appear in my life, sweep me off my feet. A bad guy that would do all sorts of cool things, but yet be willing to change and settle down for a simple yet happy life with me.
So when I was younger, I always envisioned Valentine's day to be one where I'll be receiving lots of gifts, being treated like a princess and it would (or rather, should) be a day I would get away with any requests I had, hehehehe.

Watched a little too many Korean dramas over here, oops! *laughs*

But in all honesty tho, as I grew older my view on this day changed.
Now, I feel that Valentine's Day is a day that gives us an excuse to show our appreciation to a special loved one. Be it your mom, your dad, your other half, or even your friends.
Valentine's Day is not a day solely for couples that are engaged in the romantic kind of love, but love, in general.

Valentine's day is a day about LOVE, and all kinds of love should be celebrated!

So, how has Valentine's Day been for the Mnmcouple so far?

If you guys don't already know, Matt and I gave ourselves the name "mnmcouple" because we desperately wanted to come up with a hashtag to document our exchange travels on Instagram back then in Uni. So, I came up with the name "mnmcouple" because both our names start with the letter "M" and it was just catchy so we adopted that name for ourselves!

Matt and I have been together for almost 5 years now, and while my memory of the past Valentine's Days we've celebrated are somewhat a blur now, I remembered them to always be pleasant ones.

Of course, with this being our 5th Valentine's Day together, the surprises get lesser, dinners get more "chin-chye" and dates are more impromptu now. I mean, it's pretty understandable because that's how most relationships work, and I can't blame him when I myself put in less effort each year as well HAHA.

This year, we celebrated our Valentine's over dinner on the 5th of Feb, a whopping 2 weeks earlier than the actual date because we wanted to avoid the skyhigh vday menu prices LOL. My friends all couldn't believe that I actually asked for that! But honestly at this stage, all I care about are the intangible things like communication, being each other's priority, and creating wonderful memories together as a couple. It's no longer about superficial and fancy dinners anymore.

Oh no, are these signs that I'm getting older? :/ Haha.

What are some of the odd and funny Valentine's Day gifts I've received from Matt?

HAHA. When I was asked this question I literally laughed because I can't believe I can actually get to share this story on my blog with you guys!

I'm a girl that is blessed with the loveliest pool of clients and sponsors and I get a ton of clothes, accessories, shoes and make up to review and try, so I don't usually need anything else anymore. Because of this, matt always finds it a struggle to get me anything fearing that I already own something similar in my collection. So most of the time, I'll tell him that if I were to come across anything I really need/want, i'll let him know.
(evidently, I've given up on receiving gifts as surprises HAHA)

So as the years went by, he just naturally (and very conveniently) not get me anything until I told him so.

Last year, I was shopping alone in Sephora one afternoon and I was texting him telling him about my day. I casually mentioned that I was checking out a make up sponge at the store and he just replied "oh, i'll pay you back for it tonight ok? I still owe you your Vday present for this year"
AND HE REALLY DID LOL.

SO YES, I bought the make up sponge and got a reimbursement from him at home for Valentine's day last year.

I don't mind, don't get me wrong guys. At least it is a very practical gift that I would definitely use! Hahha just thought it was a funny story to share with you guys... anyone here experienced the same with their boyfriends? >.< hahaha

NOW, to all you CLUELESS BOYFRIENDS/PEEPS that have no idea on what to get for Valentines...

I've got a perfect gift recommendation for you guys!
The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer ! This is a gift that would definitely and I mean DEFINITELY make the other person receiving it super happy because it is an awesome product that some of us use daily.
Even if you're buying it for a guy, you can opt for the white/grey version that looks more masculine. And a hair dryer is a unisex product that all men and women use. Matthias loves my Dyson Supersonic and have been using it as well, so it is a very good investment that goes a long long way with its superb quality!

As if I haven't raved enough about my favorite hair dryer of all time.. you can check out the reviews I did on my youtube channel, in these videos respectively.

In summary, here are few main reasons why I love the Dyson Supersonic

- It is super light, small and compact. Making it amazing for travels
- Powered by the Dyson digital V9 motor that measures the temperature 20x a second to make sure that your hair doesn't overheat and prevents damage.
- Powerful blade-less technology that dries my hair in half the time I usually take

So guys (and girls), if you're still looking for a Valentine's Day gift, why not consider the Dyson Supersonic that is bound to make your special loved one grin from ear to ear?:>

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!

Sending lots of love over from the Mnmcouple <3 p="">3>

Bag: Celine Micro Luggage
Shoes: Gojane Strappy Stilettos
Shades: Urban Revivo
A little black dress is a must-have in every girl's wardrobe and it isn't anything new now that we know that black is probably one of the most universally flattering colors of all.
Not only does it look good on every skin color, skin tone, it also goes well with EVERY other colors you choose to pair it with.
Not only that, an all black piece exudes class and chic unlike no other.

This Sheer Detailing Bodice Dress from LeContour is a perfect one that plays with the different textures and cuts for that sophisticated all-black look.
I love how the Roma Knitting is mixed with a slightly see-through mesh for that little bit of sexiness.
But if you're afraid of showing too much skin, don't worry! Opting for a dress like this that shows only your collarbones, and a small portion of your tummy helps you stay safe on the side of "classy" instead of "trashy" if you get what I mean, hahah!

Le-contour has been a long time client of mine if you remember seeing me post lookbooks of their pieces over on this space a few weeks ago, and there's a reason why I choose to continue working with the team.
Not only is delivery super fast and FREE (using DHL or EMS worldwide delivery) ,  it is also all made of wonderful lightweight, cooling and amazing quality.

Fashion Edit: Rora-Riel

Whatsup guys! I'm back with another fashion editorial post and today I'm gonna share 3 different looks I styled with a few pieces from Rora Riel
Rora Riel is a pretty new online fashion boutique and i've been given the honor to try on their clothes and play around with it. But first things first, I'm super in love with how they manufacture their own pieces and I love how unique they are, so I won't have to be afraid to show up at the same events with another person wearing the same pieces haha.

The first outfit I styled was a tribal casual look, around this Amelee Statement Choker Top
Because the top itself was such a statement, I wanted to bring it down a little by pairing it with very simple and minimal bottoms and accessories.
I kept everything really lazy with a pair of white sneakers with a tinge of grey, and chose to wear a bag also in grey to complement the entire look.

This top is super flattering and made of amazing quality, I can imagine so many looks to be created with this!
Shoes & Bag: Charles and Keith

The next outfit is something really sexy and classy at the same time - A denim material bodycon dress that features functional buttons all the way down.
This Nouvel Denim Midi Tube Dress is incredibly sexy with a gorgeous V-neckline that shows a little bit of skin.
Choose to wear it over a long white tee, or on its own like I did.

I also decided to take it up the glam factor a little by pairing it with a pair of red stilettos, a pair that would give me the appropriate height without drawing away too much attention.
Bag & Shoes: Charles and Keith

Last but not the least, i'm sure you guys have already seen this outfit I styled recently for the lunar new year!
But the good thing is, this gold and tangerine combination can be worn on any other occasions, not only for CNY itself because it is just so classy and vibrant. I loved this combination and thought they complimented each other so so well.
Bag: Charles and Keith
The top features a satin finish with a golden tint to it that makes it so luxurious to wear. Plus! The tie back detail allows you to adjust how tight you want to synch, allowing the petite girls to have a shot at tops like these.

Head over to www.rora-riel.com to view more of their pieces, I promise you guys won't be disappointed with their designs and quality, it's LEGIT!

Lyf@SMU - The brand new space where creativity flows

$

As all of you know, I am an SMU graduate and I recently graduated last year with a degree in accountancy. With the school-choosing frenzy coming up, I've received a lot of emails from you guys whom i've shared with about the reason why I chose SMU as my university choice and also what i've learnt over my 4 years as an undergraduate.

One of the main reason why I love SMU is because of how vibrant the school is. The university doesn't remind me of the usual classrooms we have in Singapore, and the teaching pedagogy used in SMU is a very interactive one. Classes are conducted in seminar-style, and interactive learning is encouraged.
We are constantly forced to think out of the box, given chances to train and hone our soft skills, and provided opportunities to be creative and the space to grow.

After almost 1 year of leaving the school, I finally returned to the SMU labs - a nostalgic place where I spent most of my final year at. I'm so impressed to see how much it has transformed!!!

To all my fellow SMU alumnis, try not to drop your jaws too much hahaha. I'm so jealous of all you students that get to enjoy all these facilities at the Lyf@SMU !
The new Lyf@SMU is a new partnership between SMU and Ascott which offers students a super cool and dynamic co-study, co-work, co-living environment that serves as a "living lab" where research takes place simultaneously.

Here are some of the highlights:

Events square & Signature Book Shelf

This is what you'd be greeted with when you enter Lyf@SMU. A vibrant open space with pastel hued furniture, and this huge book shelf that lights up.
You can even turn on and off the switches at the side to form the words you like!

The furniture in the events square are also mostly movable easily and are all in different shapes and sizes, configured for different uses.

The Park (social area)

I KNOW RIGHT. WHAT SOCIAL AREA ????

At the left hand side of level 1, you'll see an incredibly long foosball table. This table had been specially customized to allow up to 20 students to participate in a game of foosball together!
If foosball isn't your style, you can hop over to the little area behind where you'll find a cube shaped table tennis table where you can de-stress.
On top of that, you can also work out a sweat by going on the power bikes that would help power up your mobile phones as you ride (and relive stress), talk about saving the environment at the same time!

Jamming Area (frustration therapy)

If you'd like to have a more hardcore de-stress session or if you're just feeling like a song or two, head to the jamming area where you'll be surrounded by sound proof walls and some musical instruments that can even inspire you to write a song or two with your friends.

Multimedia Room
Behind these curtains you'll find a new gadgets like headphones where you can sit in silence and listen to music. There's also a VR console set where you can play games like fruit ninja and have lots of fun sweating it out!

The Arena

The arena is a place lined with super cosy seats like this row of beanbags where you can either sit there and do work quietly, or engage in a meeting with your group mates.

These beanbags were super comfy I kid you not. And aren't they in the most gorgeous shades ever!
Leaving my mark hehehehe. But this is a feedback wall where students can pen down their feedback on different things. How nice!

Level 3
This is the Social Kitchen where students can enjoy some food and drinks. How much it has changed since last year! It was just an empty white space with functional tables and chairs before.

Now it has transformed to such a warm and inviting place !
You guys can see all of this and experience them for yourself at the SMU open house that is happening on the 4th and 5th March 2017.

Come on down, get to learn more about about life in SMU and chat with SMU’s professors and students!

Date: 4th & 5th March 2017
Time: 10AM till late (4th March)
& 10AM - 6PM (5th March)

Calm Blue Waters , My Favorite Photo Spot in Singapore

$

0

Ahoy! I think i've never mentioned on this space before, that my favorite part of my country Singapore is actually one of the most scenic places that tourists flock to - the Marina Bay area.
Apart from the cafes and eateries of course, this entire area definitely takes the top spot for those romantic night walks and even evening runs.

There's something so serene about seeing lots of blues, sky high, tall buildings and all the iconic backdrops of singapore. If you're a tourist visiting Singapore, don't miss this area out (i'm sure you wont) because it has everything from the MBS to the Merlion accessible by foot.

This time, Michelle and I ventured out to the esplanade area to try to get a different view of the same landscape we've always been capturing, and I thought that this Andrea Patterned Dress was perfect for the calm waters and comfortable afternoon breeze.

I love that Andrea, from Le-countour is a midi piece with slits at the side, made for long walks. It is also made with 100% polyester and is super cooling to the touch. Elastic bands around the waistline not only gives you shape, but also allows you to adjust the length of the dress according to occasions.
In this instance, I was going for a more casual look and hence I tucked some fabric into the elastic band, making it shorter, exposing my ankles. But say I was attending a slightly formal event, letting it down would be more appropriate, especially when paired with heels.

Get your hands on Andrea in blue, or black over here.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! If you'd like more secret photo spots and recommendations on places to visit, eat, or have fun, feel free to drop me an email at mongchin-@hotmail.com and i'll be glad to help! x

KOREAN BEAUTY HAUL FT EZBUY

$

I went a little crazy again with my Korean Skincare and Make Up obsession so... here's another HAUL video for you guys!
I tried out Ezbuy 's new service this time and purchased some korean beauty items from their site.

If you guys don't know what Ezbuy is, it is basically a middleman page that helps you purchase goods from overseas websites, and for the longest time we all know that Ezbuy is the "Daigou" for Taobao (a chinese e-commerce site) for us singaporeans.

I did a review on my Taobao Haul both on Youtube and also on the blog a few months ago, and was super impressed with their service and the prices offered by Ezbuy.sg
Read the blog post and watch the video here!
So here are my loots that I got off Ezbuy's new Korean Beauty section, where they promise that products are 100% authentic and they're all flown in from Korea itself.

Price wise.. it is definitely cheaper than if you were to get them from Singapore or most online stores!
Scroll down to the end of the post to watch my haul video!

Here are the damages done:
➣ Look At My Eyes Cafe Eyeshadow Etude House OR203 ($3.54)
➣ Etude House Moistfull Collagen Half & Half Cream ($18.73)
➣ TonyMoly Pro Clean Soft Sherbet Cleanser ($8.77)
➣ TONYMOLY I'm Real Mask Sheet Masks ($0.89 each)
➣ The Face Shop Face It Velvet Skin Primer ($14.12)
➣ Etude House Play 101 Blending Pencil No.11 ($7.21)
➣ Etude House 0.2 Therapy Air Masks ($0.89 each)
➣ Laneige Blackhead Melting Gel 20ml ($24.75)

Shipping
Shipping took 2 weeks and I opted for the doorstep delivery at an additional $8 more.
What I loved about it is that each item was individually packed in bubble wrapped and sent over in a box that was nice and in pristine condition.
No dents, not wet and certainly nothing in there were damaged. (I've had such bad experiences with some other online sites that don't put in the effort in wrapping products properly and those are nastyyyy)

Prices
Prices are generally cheaper than getting them online elsewhere, and definitely cheaper than getting them in stores (if you can even find them in stores in SG)
For instance, the Look At My Eyes Eyeshadows only cost $3.74 each on Ezbuy.sg as compared to $8-20 on other popular online sites.
Affordable!
On top of that, you guys can use my link bit.ly/mongabongEZ10 for $10 off!

Overall
I really enjoyed shopping on ezbuy! If you've always wanted to try out some korean beauty products or simply just to stock up on your holygrail products, try out this efficient and economical service!

They've got a pretty decent range of brands there like Laneige, Etude House, Laneige, Tony Moly and more.

Earrings: The Ordinary Co
Ring: Naida Mini Circle Open Ring in Gold by Monica Vinader
It's been awhile since I styled something so glamorous. I almost forgot how to walk in such a gorgeous drop back dress! But to be very honest, this dress I got from LPA was like a dream.
It is made of polyester blend, it is stretchy and thin for comfort.

I wear size XS and this is also available in oxblood as well. Was super tempted to get it in oxblood but I thought i would get more wear out of this black one!

Stick on bra is a must for this, unless you're daring and full then feel free to let them loose or simply wear a nipple cover!

Fit wise, I would highly recommend this piece to the fuller chested girls as it would look best on you guys. I had to alter mine a little at the chest area because I'm not voluptuous enough in that area (ahem) , but theres nothing a simple few stitches cant fix!

A Jetsetter's Dream, American Tourister

$
0
0
2016 has been a year of jetsetting madness and it travelling has taught me a ton of invaluable life lessons and it is one sure way to relax the mind and soul.
It's not difficult to know that I'm a huge lover of traveling. I mean, who doesn't???
This year, I've committed myself to travel and see more of the world, meet new people and explore more exciting opportunities. First, with all the confirmed trips already lined up each month!

Having the right gear when you travel is super important and personally, I think it makes up a HUGE part to whether or not it would be a good trip.
Back in 2014 when I was on my student exchange, I struggled with a bad luggage that ruined the most part of the trip. Imagine carrying 30kg worth of stuff and dragging a DEADWEIGHT box all across 25 different cities over 4 months? Well, been there, done that. It was not cute and definitely not enjoyable at all.

Since that incident, I've committed myself to look into, and invest in good and trusty traveling suitcases because the worst thing that can happen is when it fails on you overseas, with a tight schedule and a ton of heavy things to lug around.

The great Lazada birthday SALE is coming right up on the 21st to 23rd March and there are lots of stuff to expect! Up to 90% off items, over 300+ flash deals and vouchers up to $100 to be grabbed etc. It's gonna be HUGE and I'm so excited about it because I've got a list of things I need to buy and this opportunity can't come at a better timing.

One of them is American Tourister, a world renown brand that has celebrated 84 years of uncompromising quality and exciting adventures.

This is the new American Tourister Curio 55/20 Spinner TSA.

I freaking love it omg it glides like a dream with the double wheel, has a max volume of 35L for this small sized one, a recessed TSA lock  and is in a 100% Polypropylene shell.
I love the Polypropylene shell it comes in because it is durable and lightweight – weighing only 2.5KG!
There's also a maximum volume of 140L (incl expansion) for those that are going on long trips / shopping sprees !
There are 4 vibrant colors to choose from, for each size (S, M, and L) (55cm/69cm/80cm)
An expander zip is also included for the Medium (69cm) and Large (80cm) sizes, just in case you go on a shopping trip and extra spaces are a necessity, this function is super handy!

I chose mine in a hot bright pink because it stands out and makes it easier for me to spot it immediately at the conveyer belts. HAHAHA

Here are the other colors you can choose from:

    Sizes: 55cm (2.6kg/35L) / 69cm EXP (3.8kg/90L)/ 80cm EXP (4.8kg/140L)
 Price: SGD$210 / SGD$240 / SGD$270
Warranty: 3 years global warranty (covers manufacturing defects)

For more information, you can check out their Facebook page and American Tourister's website.

Overall, i think this is an amazing investment piece that can bring you to places without worries. Not only is it made of really good materials, it is backed by a trusty brand, American Tourister whom for those that don't know, is owned by Samsonite

So even if anything were to happen with your luggage elsewhere in the world, you'll be rest assured that you'll be able to find a American Tourister helpdesk/service center in that country!

Hope you guys found this useful!
Be sure to check out Lazada's birthday sale for LOTS of exciting deals!!!

Styling Leather Bags | BONIA Singapore

Hola!
I realise I hardly ever dedicate my posts to styling bags, so here's my first attempt at styling 2 really modern and chic leather bags from BONIA

Established since 1974, BONIA is a brand we are all familiar with growing up. The international luxury brand and leather specialist has become a legend in the fashion industry for its finest quality for its mid-range price points. BONIA has always been known as Modern, Elegant and Contemporary and these values can definitely be seen in their products.

First up, a gorgeous BONIA Shoulder Bag , $270.
I picked out this little cute bag in a color I wouldn't usually go for, but so glad I did. This pale blue color is so soft on any outfits paired, giving that girly touch so magically.
Although it looks pretty tiny and dainty, you'll be surprised at how much it could fit!

A wallet, portable charger, phone charger, keys, phone (yes with my huge phone case) and even make up! I didn't have to switch out my wallet to a small cardholder like I normally would with other small satchel bags, all thanks to the soft leather this came in.
It allowed me to carry all my necessities around with ease!
For all you pastel and spring lovers out there, you'll be thrilled to find out that this model also comes in pinkish purple and light grey !
-->
Introducing the Guilietta Collection, the most functional backpack that features a zipper compartment at the base that allows you to carry it stylishly as a chic shoulder bag.
I was told that the designer of this bag was inspired by the attractiveness of the Roman cinematic city and the beauty of the Romans that captivates the heart of a traveller - which explains the colors of Trastevere!
While the Guilietta Backpack is a pretty girly piece, I wanted to show you guys how to bring a bag like this to the next level and push it to the other end of the fashion spectrum.
Pairing it with a simple pair of black work pants, white top and nude heels, I challenged this look and wore an edgy leather jacket over.

Immediately, you'll be able to go from Day to Night and right off to enjoy your night after a long day at work. But one headache people would always have is finding a bag that would match as many looks as possible that is versatile, but yet not your average black work bag that everyone carries.

This is why I love the Guilietta Backpack!
Available in 4 different colors, which you can find here on Lazada.

I'm super impressed with the quality of both of my BONIA bags! They are soft, but yet sturdy to maintain its shape. The best part, it is light, comfortable to carry around and incredibly stylish at the same time.

How would you pair these bags?

Check out the exclusive offers for these bags on Lazada this tomorrow, 21st to 23rd March 2017 for lots of crazy deals, don't miss out guys! The sale is gonna be hugeeeee.

How I style Minimal Watches | French Connection 25% off!

Timepieces are a way to not only tell the time but also a fashion statement that adds subtle touches to compliment your look.
It's no wonder why people see watches as investment pieces, because they are not only gonna last you for a long time, but there's something so classy about watches and their characters.

In this post i'm going to introduce to you guys 2 different watches from French Connectionand how I styled them according to different occasions.

Features include:
- Genuine leather strap
- Cubic Zirconia crystals
- Gold IP case
- Water resistant to 30m

There's always something so elegant about a good white watch. It screams confidence, sophistication and yet at the same time is soft and dainty, just like this one in white and gold.
I love how white watches can go with any color, afterall, white is one of the most universal colors in the world and that is why you always see me in white pieces (hahah) because it's pretty brainless when it comes to styling.

I decided to go for a corporate inspired look for this one, with a flowy white blouse, some statement silver accessories and a pair of black pants.
It's amazing how the shade of gold on the Daisy Grand Crystal isn't too yellow or striking, allowing me to pair it with other colors like silver.
The next piece, the French Connection Harper Petite (FC1291BBM) - Black Mesh

Features include:
- Minimal design in a 33mm case
- Matte white face
- Striking matte black mesh stainless steel strap
- Water resistant to 30m
The black rim and matte white face makes it so edgy and cool. These 2 features were the reasons why I decided to go for an edgy, leather all black look with other textures like fishnet, ripped jeans and leather booties.

If you're someone always going for the extremes, adventurous and dislike boundaries, this is the watch for you!
The 33mm face also fits perfectly on someone with a small wrist like myself, making this watch less of a bulky masculine one, but a cool, sexy and edgy one for us females.

The latest SS17 French Connection timepieces are all available on Lazada SG
If you've read till the end, you'll be happy to know that theres a 25% discount for my readers with the code " 25clout9 ".

These are perfect as gifts! French Connection also carries a ton of other trendy timepieces so I'm sure you'll be able to find one that you like.

Hey guys!

Today I decided to film a Smokey Eye look for you guys and this is specifically for asian eye shapes. Yes, even monolids can use the same technique!
I wanted to show this on video because a smokey eye is a classic, but isn't always the easiest eye look to rock. Besides, most of the looks I see online aren't for asian features, so I hope this helps.

Coffee Time in Olive | The Closet Lover

$

Heels: Aldo
Bag: Celine
Location: Island Cafe & Bar
A few days ago M and I decided to check out one of the most instagrammed cafes - Island Cafe & Bar and boy, it was beautiful! To my surprise, the cafe actually served local food, so you can expect your usual nasi lemak, laksa, etc.
It was honestly a little weird paying cafe prices, sitting in a cafe setting and nomming on nasi lemak >< But nevertheless i heard that Island Cafe & Bar has been around for many many years before they decided to revamp it and give it a brand new modern facelift.

I loved the food though! Don't get me wrong hehe.

This was the outfit I wore that day for my cafe meeting in the morning, and to a series of work meetings in the afternoon.

The Jannicia Dress from The Closet Lover is a gorgeous piece in one of my favorite shades of green - olive. I find Olive one of the easiest green colors to pair with and it also compliments my skin tone very well, giving me a brighter complexion.

The V cut collar makes it forgiving when you show up to a work meeting because it can work for both semi-formal and casual occasions, killing 2 birds with one stone because I didn't have to reach for another outfit!

Jannicia is also available in Black, a color I would gravitate to if I wanted a more formal vibe.
New arrivals have now dropped online at www.theclosetlover.com and also in stores at:

 Bugis Junction #03-15

Hey guys! I'm back with another fashion style post and this time I wore a simple panel black dress for a series of meetings in town and I thought I would show you guys some pictures of it.
Very often I would tell girls to get themselves a staple Little Black Dress (LBD) because you simply can't go wrong with it. LBDs are also the ones I gravitate to whenever I travel as they work well for every occasion, be it casual, formal, or a for a work appointment.

This is a piece by Le-Contour and its of an awesome breathable fabric that makes it perfect for our weather. I love it when work dresses are figure flattering and yet comfortable to wear - this is a perfect example of that!
This dress comes in a figure flattering front panel feature, it gives an illusion of a larger chest and a smaller waist. An overall slightly curvy figure which is perfect for the shapeless like me ><

My style is usually pretty basic, so I thought I would give all the attention to the front panel feature and go basic with the rest of my accessories. I've always got a pair of nude strappy stilettos at the back of my car because you know, functionality haha.
You can too!

Review: Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Shampoo & Phytokeratine Extreme Mask

Many of you asked how I manage to keep my hair looking healthy despite all of the chemical processes and heat styling I put it through... really there isn't any other way apart from getting treatments done in hair salons, and paying attention to using the right at home hair care for maintenance.

Of course, diet plays a huge part too but we all know that is also the hardest part to stick to. Today, I'm gonna introduce to you guys two ultra rich and luxurious products for your hair that are perfect for a pampering session at home.
The Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Shampoo, and the Phytokeratine Extreme Mask.

These 2 products are formulated for Extremely dry and brittle hair . So you can imagine how potent the ingredients are in terms of repairing and hydrating your strands!

Now let talk about packaging first. Most of Phyto hair care products come in this really sturdy metal bottle which I really love because it also means that those nasty chemicals from our usual plastic bottles aren't gonna be mixed into the contents inside.
On top of that, the gold color packaging just screams so much class!
Now moving into the finer bits:

Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Shampoo transforms into a luxurious foam that cleanses my hair once I work it in. I love the foam it gives off because it is extremely buttery and creamy, coating each strand of hair very well without much tugging and effort. This 'exceptional shampoo' contains a potent concentration of baobab oil and sapotte butter which are twice as rich in essential fatty acid as shea butter, which we all know is known to be super rich and good for hydration.

This is twice as potent, twice as rich!

I used the shampoo followed by the treatment mask as per normal, towl dried my hair a little and used the hairdryer on the lowest heat setting.
Honestly, the results were very impressive!
Of course, I didn't only use these 2 products (in combination) for just one time before I got these results, I used it for at least a week and saw an overall improvement in the change in the health of my strands.

The photo below shows the smoothening effect and manageability of the Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Shampoo, and the Phytokeratine Extreme Mask on my hair. That, I can definitely see in just one wash!

It is said that using it regularly would reliver complete nourishment and restores the hydrolipidic film in the hair strands, even the driest, most porous hair is renewed, regaining silkiness and suppleness.

My hair on the left had been unwashed for 2 days, contained lots of hairspray and dry shampoo, and the one of the right is after 1 wash (after 3 weeks of usage), blown dry with a hairdryer on the lowest heat setting.
Not only are its effects very clear to the eye, it also smells amazing!
The hair mask has a subtle nutty scent to it that doesn't linger for too long and isn't too sweet nor over-powering.

OVERALL REVIEW

Overall, I really like these 2 products and they are one of the most luxurious hair care products I've used at home. While they are not the cheapest in the market, it contains a ton of really effective and potent ingredients that can help revive the driest and most unmanageable hairs.

So for that, I'd say the money is well-worth it!

I would recommend them to those that have the budget to spend and for those that have very dry hair. So if you're in the market for a good shampoo and hair mask, you can try out the Phytoelixir Intense Nutrition Shampoo, and the Phytokeratine Extreme Mask.

Betadine Feminine Wash

A woman's intimate area is arguably one of the most sensitive, and important area of our body. Not only does it directly affect our health, but also our confidence and how we feel inside and out.
In today's day and age, such topics are a lot more acceptable when talked about as everyone becomes less narrow minded and information becoming increasingly readily available. I'm thankful that I got to attend the Betadine Event, held at Mundiphara, the makers of Betadine, two weeks ago and am given the chance to share all that i've learnt with you guys.

Did you know that most women will be inflicted with Yeast Infection at least once in their life? I didn't know it was THAT common of a problem amongst us women. When I got my first Yeast Infection years ago when I was much younger, I didn't know what was happening, neither did I know the steps to take to take proper care of it. On top of that, I was too embarrassed to share my problems with anyone... I felt so alone, grossed out and depressed.

Thank God, that episode did not last too long after I took it to the internet to read forums about other women who shared their experiences with Yeast Infection and heeded their advice.

Unknowingly, there were many things I was doing in my daily life that wasn't suitable for my vaginal health. One thing, I was using regular body washes and soaps on my intimate areas as well, because you know... it was what was the most convenient.
Little did I know that that is a BIG NO-NO because it can actually affect the healthy balance of bacteria and pH levels of the area.

The biggest takeaway from the entire session is to use a product specific for it, especially if it is such an important area and organ that we cannot belittle. Imagine using toothpaste to wash your hair in place of shampoo, we don't do that right? Similarly, we should use products that are specially formulated to daily cleanse our intimate areas.

Betadine Feminine Washis an honest, natural feminine wash that is hypoallergenic, paraben-free, soap and colorants free.

I know that there has been many talks about the harmful effects of using feminine washes out there, and while I do agree with some (especially the part about cleaning too often and removing both the GOOD and bad bacteria together), there are also other products out there in the market that I've personally tried and tested and know to be really gentle on the skin and good for the overall vaginal health.
Betadine Feminine Washcontains 3 natural ingredients : Immortelle , an antioxidant, Syricalm that soothes and reduces itching, and Deoplex, the effective and natural solution to odour neutralisation.
On top of that, there are added Prebiotics, Biolin that stimulates the growth of beneficial flora which supports the intimate area's natural pH balance.
The Betadine Feminine Wash is a very gentle and liquid-y wash that is natural, has no coloring, non fragrance and leaves me skin feeling clean, refreshed and yet still hydrated. I love how it only gives off little to almost no foam and incorporating this small step in my daily regime has helped me stay fresh, nice smelling and confident.

If you're a fan of foam textures, you can opt for the Betadine Feminine Wash Foam which comes with a special foam pump head that dispenses the product and foams it up instantly for easy use.
I thought the pump was super useful because it prevents spillage and is very convenient to use.

The different formats are totally up to you and the kind of textures you prefer!

I hope we all learnt a thing or two! And remember daily maintenance is an act of prevention, and prevention is always better than cure.

4 WAYS TO ACHIEVE HEALTHY HAIR

#1 DIY NOURISHING HAIR MASK
This is an at-home remedy that I've experimented with a handful of times whenever I run out of hair masks or whenever my tresses need a good deep and rich hair treatment. This recipe is really simple, with only 2 ingredients needed - coconut oil and honey, both as pure as possible.
Simply mix the 2 together, and apply directly to slightly damp hair and leave it in a bun for 20 to 30 mins before rinsing it off. You might need to shampoo your hair twice to get rid of the coconut oil, but trust me this hair mask will deeply restore the most damaged of hair!

#2 HEALTH AND HAIR SUPPLEMENTS
There are many hair and health supplements available out there in local pharmacies that can help with healthy hair growth. One supplement I have been taking daily is flaxseed oil, and I found that after diligent use, my hair is now seemingly more healthy and shiny, with less fallouts.
Flaxseed oils have one of the richest sources of omega-3-fatty-acids which has a ton of other health benefits such as helping wounds heal faster, anti-inflammatory properties, and better skin health.

I've been taking flaxseed oil to help control my eczema flare ups and have seen tremendous results with controlling my skin condition.

If you're looking at health supplements that have beneficial results for hair health as well, you can look for those that contain higher concentrations of Vit C, omega-3, and omega-6 fatty acids, amino acids, B vitamins, Vitamin A and E.

#3 A GOOD HEARTY BREAKFAST CEREAL
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for me because it is what gets me going for the first few hours of my day. I love having wholegrain breakfast cereal because it is not only healthy, but also promoted healthy hair due to the boost in zinc, iron and B vitamins.

I like to load up my cereals with added nuts and fruits as well, such as almonds, macadamia nuts and sometimes have it with Greek Yogurt, which is good for scalp health especially with the presence of B5 and Vitamin D.

#4 INVEST IN A GOOD EVERYDAY HAIR TOOL
I use a blow dryer on my hair everyday. Before I sleep after I shower and before I style my hair in the morning. In the past, my hair dryers would often cause my hair to become dry and damaged and going in with heating hair tools after just damaged my tresses even more.

That is when I realised the importance of investing in a good, everyday hair tool that would protect my hair and scalp from getting heat damaged.

The Dyson Supersonic definitely needs no more introduction, I've already mentioned on multiple occasions across multiple platforms that it is my favourite hair dryer and in fact, almost unanimously amongst hair care professionals and stylists as the "the" best hair dryer in the world.

Despite the price tag, it still remains as a good and worthy investment in my eyes because of its incredible fast-drying speed, how travel-friendly and lightweight it is, and more importantly, its Intelligent Heat Control technology measures temperature output 20 times a second and a microprocessor (it's almost like a "brain" within the hair dryer) that regulates the temperature to protect your scalp and hair from extreme heat damage due to overheating. This is important ladies, especially for those of you who use a hairdryer and/or styling tools on a regular basis like me.

JAPAN 10D9N TRIP: DAY 1 TO 3 TOKYO

$

DAY ONE: TOUCHDOWN + SHINJUKU
Day 1 was pretty ordinary, we touched down from our redeye flight from SG to tokyo Narita and took the JR Narita Express (NEX) to Shinjuku. That train was super comfortable and fast, and of course it was what like the televisions showed, super duper clean and organised.

Costs: 3200 Yen
Duration: 90Mins

DAY TWO: TSUKIJI FISH MARKET + ASAKUSA
We first went to Asakusa and were greeted with one of the first sights of cherry blossom for the trip.
To be honest, there wasn't much to do in Asakusa except to walk the streets where touristy shops are lined and literally tourists everywhere.

However the park there is quite pretty and you'll be able to see some cherry blossoms there!
tsukiji fish market is a must-go when you visit Tokyo. Not only does it have lots of sights to see, the food stalls there are also splendid! The queue for every restaurant was super long due to the golden week where everyone flocks to japan for the cherry blossoms, so if you wanna queue for good food you gotta go early.
Chances are, you probably will have to split up if you're in a large group because restaurants are really small there.

We first tried the Soba Noodles with Tempura in Dashi broth at a roadside stall and it was SOOO good especially in the cold weather.
We then went to queue for what seemed like a Singaporean's favorite - Sushi Zanmai
I say that because 50% of the people in the queue were singaporeans as well LOL.
But anyway, Sushi Zanmai is the place to go for cheap and good sushi!

Their Otoro and Chotoro are really really amazing at only SGD$5 per piece. Slurps

DAY THREE: OYAKODON + YOYOGI PARK + MEIJI SHRINE

Day 3 saw us checking out of our airbnb in Shinjuku and leaving for one in Roppongi. I wouldn't recommend switching hotels within a town because generally places are very easy to get to, but if you're going during the golden week then you really have to book early!
The accom we were staying that for days 1 & 2 got booked up after that's why we had to shift accoms which got pretty tiring and time consuming. haha

For lunch, we had Oyakodon at Hashida-ya , located in Shibuya
The restaurant practically only had 3 mains on the menu, and we ordered all 3 to try.
To be very honest, despite the hype and good reviews I read online on Hashida-ya's oyakodon, I felt that the Oyakodon was not the highlight of the lunch.
In fact it was the chicken cutlet rice (pictured at the end of the picture) that was fried to perfection, salted well and had an amazing homemade mayo-combination (idk what was in there) to top it off.

The Oyakodon on the other hand was bland and we needed a lot of soy sauce on the side to give it some taste.

Yoyogi Park
I wore this outfit for the third day because i knew this gorgeous shade of camel would go super well with the babypink of the cherry blossoms.
Yoyogi park was one of the worst nightmares of tokyo because it was literally FLOODED with tourists. I think its not an exaggeration to say that the park had at least 10-20k people in there at the same time.
People were rubbing shoulders, squeezing, pushing.. etc.
People were on the floor having picnic, watching the flowers. That would have been nice if we secured a spot in the park to picnic as well but well, we didn't.
Don't expect to come back with good photos of yourself + the cherry blossoms because that's impossible!

Meiji Shrine

meiji, shrine, tokyo, gate
meiji shrine, tokyo
One of the world's most famous shrines, the meiji shrine. The Meiji Shrine is located in Shibuya-ko and is just next to Harajuku.
Thousands of tourists come here everyday to have their wishes written down on these wooden blocks. I wished for mine too and had such a great time reading others'.
This place is so so gorgeous and serene, there is something about the Meiji Shrine that comes off as spacious and welcoming, despite the number of tourists in there.

However, note that it closes pretty early at 6PM daily, so remember to catch it before it closes!
I like to visit in the evening when it starts to get cloudy because the weather is the best then!

That's it for TOKYO!

For those that are planning to head to Japan for a similar duration, you here's the summary of the places we visited:

Day 1 to 3 : Tokyo
Day 3: Hakone
Day 4: Kawaguchiko
Day 5 to 7 : Kyoto
Day 8 to 9 : Osaka

Keep a lookout for the posts coming up over the next few weeks!
